Executive Chef Chris Eddy approaches his craft with the core values of "integrity and culinary artistry," promising "solidness is our signature." One taste and you understand you are in the hands of a master, so skilled at his seed-to-table approach using simple, crisp and seasonal ingredients. Winvian's is dedicated to exceed expectations and meet the needs of individual guests, as it is second nature. The menu changes daily, remaining connected to surrounding land and larger community. To compliment our food philosophy, we have put together an extensive wine list of 350 labels from 13 countries and 37 different regions with the emphasis on USA, France and Italy. Market Place Tavern is the latest concept and restaurant for Market Hospitality Group (MHG). The Tavern which overlooks the Litchfield Green, is the oldest public building in town and one of the oldest penal facilities in the state. It was built in 1812 to serve as a jail for British prisoners during the War of 1812. A cell block and a three-story wing with additional cell blocks, which now is part of the restaurant’s bar area, was added in 1846. The jail closed in 1992 and was used as a treatment center for men serving prison sentences. It shut down again in 1993 and reopened in 1994 as a rehabilitation center for women facing incarceration. When that center closed, the state decided to sell it.The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner and features “American Tavern Food” with Craft Beers and Cocktails made with local spirits. We look forward to seeing you!

We had a lovely brunch at the Artisan this afternoon. We had a 12:30 reservation, which was a good time as it was not too crowded. Both our selections from the fixed price menu were excellent. We had the French toast and the Crocque Madame. The eggs were perfect. The noise level was acceptable and there was a very good guitarist playing quiet background music. Very satisfactory. We recommend it.

We came for the Valentines special tasting menu. Normally I am not a fan of the bloated vdaypreset menu, however at $165 per person this over delivered and was truly special! 9 courses of excitement, attentive service, wonderful wine and an unpretentious atmosphere. The food, I mean this was the best meal we have ever had! The surprise winner of the night? “The Beet”. No words can even do justice to a simple roasted beet with a magical ride of adventure! And the best part? As they said, this is not a one off for the holiday, this is just like any other night at the restaurant with their tasting menu!

My hubby and I thoroughly enjoyed our extraordinary pre-Valentine’s Day lunch celebration! From the Black History Month-themed appetizer to classics like Escargot a la Bourguignonne and Cassoulet Toulousain, every bite was a revelation. We also enjoyed our conversations with our student servers whose attention and care was beyond professional. The perfect way to celebrate our love for food and each other!
