- TTimVIPSan Francisco Bay Area •32 reviews5.0Dined todayA Michelin Star Romance in Carlsbad: David and I recently indulged in not one, but two incredible dinners this week at Jeune et Jolie, our favorite culinary escape in Carlsbad. And yes, we did briefly entertain the idea of sneaking in a third visit—though we joked with our server Kyle that it might veer into “too much of a good thing” territory. (Let’s be honest, there’s no such thing when it comes to Jeune et Jolie.) This restaurant continues to deliver an experience that’s polished yet effortlessly comfortable. The menu is a masterclass in balance, with each dish more inventive and satisfying than the last. The wine list? A delight. The sommelier’s thoughtful recommendations added a whole new dimension to our meal, pairing perfectly with the flavors while making us feel like connoisseurs (we’re not, but we’ll take it). The service, as always, struck just the right note—attentive without hovering, warm without overstepping. Kyle and the rest of the team make you feel like old friends, creating an easy, elevated vibe that feels personal but never pretentious. The space itself remains a jewel: sophisticated, lively, and effortlessly chic. Dining here feels like being part of a well-kept secret, even with the Michelin star glittering proudly in the background. Reservations through OpenTable were smooth (thank you for that!) and a lifesaver, given the popularity of this spot. It’s no surprise Jeune et Jolie is a North County San Diego darling—it’s intimate, innovative, and worth every bite. We’ll be back—probably sooner than we should admit. For now, we’ll revel in the memory of those two perfect dinners, knowing a third visit isn’t entirely out of the question. Cheers to the entire team!More infoJeune et JoliePrice: Very Expensive• Contemporary French• Carlsbad•4.9
- AAnnaVIPSan Diego •12 reviews5.0Dined todayWe really enjoyed our experience and look forward to returning. The chef offered a complimentary amuse of a couple arepas. So good, I will definitely get a full order next time. For dinner we ordered the pork trio for 2. It came with two sides, we chose the potato tostones and the Autumn squashes. Everything was so good that sadly we were too full for dessert which we look forward to enjoying next time. We both also ordered Old Fashions which were both made exactly the way we requested them.More infoPonto Lago - Park Hyatt AviaraPrice: Very Expensive• Californian• Carlsbad•4.7
- GGiseleVIPSan Diego •55 reviews5.0Dined todayFood was fantastic - apple barrata was outstanding- balance of flavors and textures was amazing. Duck carnitas with crisp thinly sliced carrots and jalapeño peppers was very flavorful and the skin was crispy. Braised short ribs were good but could have been more tender. Both were served with freshly made and warm corn tortillas which were excellent. Duck carnitas only brought 3 tortillas so had to request more but took some time to get them. Wine list is small but good. Many wines are not well known. There is a good spread of prices. The Syrah we had was quite good and reasonably priced. It paired very well with our food. They decanted the wine for us which enabled it to open up. Our server, Amanda, was excellent. I would go back.More infoVAGA Restaurant & BarPrice: Expensive• American• Encinitas•4.5
- RRyanSan Diego •1 review5.0Dined on 12 Dec 2024The newest offering from the same team that brought us Jeune et Jolie and Campfire, Wildland is a breath of fresh air. Its an interesting combination of fast casual meets hospitality and "when you're here you're family" (but not in the fake Italian sort of way). The menu is concise and has something for every palette, which is helpful, and the drinks are very good (similar to Campfire). The ambiance is cozy but minimal as there is a LOT going on. The open kitchen, bar and bakery make for eye candy everywhere. My favorite bite was the Clams, followed closely by the Mafaldine pasta. The pizzas were above average but could use a little more generosity on the toppings. The Pistachio tiramisu is a must try. We look forward to trying breakfast... and lunch.
