We serve food that, more often than not, accesses that part of our deepest soul where genuine expression can flow forth. We have always tried to give our food and service our best selves, as honest and vulnerable as we can muster. We strive to be a place where you might actually have a real connection; maybe with your server, maybe with your food or maybe with your possibly gracious host who is ACTUALLY glad you’re there.

Oh, you wanted a restaurant description? Sorry. Can’t really help you there. We’re not so big on labels. Our food is hard to nail down as we are constantly evolving and entirely seasonal and personal. We’ve used “Food you eat” as a tag line on occasion and that remains accurate. We could also describe it as “Food we really want you to eat”. When you’re here, tell us what you would call it.

    A Noe Valley gem! Love this restaurant that has been here as long as I have lived in S.F. 30 years! Delicious food, nice staff, warm comfortable interior.

    I've dined at Firefly for about 30 years as it is in my neighborhood. Generally I've had a wonderful experience. But my last time was a significant disappointment. The service was great. The appetizer of radish cakes was tasty. But the entree of ocean trout was terrible. It consisted of a generous portion of fish, but was under cooked. That might work for seared tuna perhaps, but not this trout. Next to the fish were potatoes that were tasteless, and on the other side were baby broccoli that seemed only parboiled without any seasoning. The three items sat on some sauce I can't describe. I ate barely half of it. And that dish was $37! I don't write reviews. But this meal stood out. Firefly! I know you can do better.

    Firefly has been a mainstay of the Noe Valley restaurant scene for years and for good reason. The food is delicious, interesting and of superior quality; reasonably priced and served both efficiently and unobtrusively. I consider living within walking distance of Firefly one of the significant pleasures of living in Noe Valley.

    First of all…we absolutely love Firefly. We try to make it a family dinner about every 2-3 weeks. We have a celiac patient in the family so a restaurant that not only caters to that but also has phenomenal food and service is the best. Firefly delivers on that! Sammy, our favorite server whose area we try to be seated in every time) is better than we can ask for. We will certainly be returning over and over.

    Lovely little neighborhood treasure. We like to order a few small plates/salads to share and split a main course. Staff is attentive and kind. Perfect for a date night or small celebrations.

    In our opinion, Firefly is one of the best restaurants in San Francisco. The food is always delicious and the service is great. The fact that practically everything on the menu is gluten free, (you would never know), including dessert, is an added bonus!

    FireFly is amazing! We've been going there for years, not very often but we should probably go more. We enjoyed an amazing day-after-Valentine's Day dinner with excellent champagne and wine. Food is always top-of-the-line gourmet yet familiar comfort food. The chicken is always amazing and I ventured to try the Moqueca Baiana with Rockfish, Shrimp and Scallops which was amazing. A Noe Valley institution, highly recommend.
