   We had the most amazing waitress tonight. Had a wonderful warm smile and we had a great connection with her. She made the evening a very special one for our 47th Anniversary. The food was as delicious as we remembered. We haven’t been there for over 30 years.

   I ordered the Crown cut prime rib It was very good. However it came with the incorrect side dishes. I ordered the cream spinach and corn. I was served creamed spinach and mashed potatoes. The server Vickie brought me an order of cream corn. My husband ordered the pork chop. It was well over cooked. He did not enjoy it. Our friend who was with us is vegan. There were no options for her to order. She had the 5 Crown salad without bacon and cheese. She ordered the squash which was served with cheese. The other which I cannot remember the name of it came with butter. She sent both back and had nothing else to eat. The server said she had told the galley to prepare both vegetables vegan style but that did not happen.

   First, I want to say our food and the ambiance was great. The prime rib and fixings are always consistently good when going there. That said, the aggressive upselling by our server made the experience a little uncomfortable. This is not a reflection on the place but the server, as I’ve never experienced that by other servers there before. Not only that but I used a $50 gift card to pay for part of the meal. It literally says $50 on the front of the card. He charged only $25 on the card and kept the card. When I asked for the card back he did apologize and said he didn’t realize it was for $50. Not sure how when we told him $50 on that card, and it said $50 on the card. Could have been an innocent mistake but our whole table got the same feeling that it was a ploy and he thought I wouldn’t notice. This experience is why I didn’t leave five stars.

   Asked for medium for my filet - came out well done - they took it back and re made my steak but it too so long everyone else at table had finished their meal.

    If you're looking for an excellent prime rib dinner look no further. Five Crowns in Corona del Mar. We had the crown cut (end cut), shared a wedge salad which is enough for two, and my son had the French onion soup. We dined like kings and queens. Five Crowns is part of the Lawry's family with other Lawry's prime rib restaurants. I have also been to the House of Prime rib in San Francisco (reservations 3 months in advance) but Lawry's and Five Crowns beats them hands down. I suggest Lawry's have a contest to see who has better prime rib between House of Prime rib and Lawry's
