About this restaurant

  • Good for groups
  • Good for special occasions
  • Lively
Flesh & Buns Covent Garden, from the team behind Bone Daddies and Shackfuyu, is located within the bustling Seven Dials area in Covent Garden. Inspired by Japanese izakayas, roughly translated as a pub or place designed for informal eating and drinking, Flesh & Buns is the first restaurant in London to specialise in gua bao buns (DIY filled steamed buns).
Below street-level, the restaurant has a bar area offering bar dining for up to 10 people, serving a variety of sake brands and a diverse range of cocktails including the signature Frozen Yuzu Margarita, alongside the restaurant’s varied sharing food menu. Draped fabric ‘noren’ screen curtains surround intimate dining booths and transport diners to an authentic Japanese drinking den experience – bookable and ideal for groups of friends or colleagues meeting for lunch, dinner or Flesh & Buns’ ever-popular Sunday Brunch.

I was taken to the bar even if I made a reservation, then I was moved to a table. Food was ok but not good enough for the price.

One of my favourite spots to eat in London. Never disappoints. The wait staff are amazing. The food is incredible. The korean wings are awesome. I always try to get here when I’m in town.

Very poor service. Incredibly slow, waited 15-20 minutes between the sushi being cleared and the buns arriving. For the massive bun platter with 3 different meats you get 4 buns then have to wait another 10 minutes while the food gets cold to get 2 more buns. If you want any more then you have to pay. It’s a joke.

Service was good and menu choice was varied . Food was delicious and portion size was generous. Would definitely go back

In term of the overall vibe and service it was great, nice buzz but still intimate and importantly no crazy loud music (pet peeve of mine haha), food was decent tho my partner found that the tuna maki rolls she got lacked in flavour and the miso aubergine poke bowl I got could’ve done may have been better with a flavoured rice instead of plain sushi rice. Spent £75 between he 2 of us which included a starter, 2 sushi dishes, a poke bowl, a desert and drinks which is decent though if the food was up to par it would have definitely been better value for money
