Welcome to the Lodge at Salhouse, we are a family run pub occupying a charming 19th century vicarage. The pub has recently been renovated, including comfortable bedrooms set in seven acres of countryside garden.We are fortunate to be surrounded by the picturesque Norfolk Broads, while Salhouse boasts numerous scenic walks for both guests and four-legged friends to enjoy.The neighbouring village of Wroxham provides plentiful amenities including a department store, local shops and cafes, and is popular with holidaymakers wishing to hire boats - we would all agree that one of the best ways to experience the Broads is on the water!Norfolk also boasts 90 miles of award-winning coastline, with lots of variety to explore. From sandy beaches and rugged cliffs to salt marshes, there really is a beach for everyone! Here at the Lodge our closest stretch of beach is only a half-hour drive away.

The Cliff Hotel dates back to 1890 when the original hotel was opened, in 1915 the building was ravaged by fire and demolished. The old staff accommodation was renovated into a new hotel, the building that we currently occupy today. We have a vast selection of dining options from our relaxed art-deco inspired MUSE restaurant, our vibrant bar dining area or one of the biggest outside dining terraces in Norfolk. We set out to create the kind of establishment we'd love to find in one of the UK's most beautiful cities, one where old-fashioned hospitality is valued, food is delicious and where beautiful surroundings can be found hidden around every corner.From breakfast where we serve our unique Beforenoon Tea - the breakfast edition of afternoon tea - to lunch which includes Assembly House classics and grazing boards, we're open seven days a week. We're most famous for our themed afternoon teas which change regularly and are served from noon until last service at 3.30pm daily. As the Home of Afternoon Tea, we also serve some spectacular savoury versions of tea, including Beforenoon Tea, seafood option Afternoon Sea and our cheese-based option Afternoon Cheese. Please let us know your dietary adaptations for vegan, dairy-free, gluten-free or vegetarian teas at least 24 hours in advance.

    Our party enjoyed the Peter Pan afternoon tea. It was excellent!! One of the party is gluten and lactose intolerant and they were provided with a separate stand of food. Their items looked exactly like the other one. Service was efficient and the staff were extremely friendly. A beautiful setting.

    We had a minor problem with one of our meals. The way that it was dealt with went way above and beyond our expectations. The food was amazing and portion size big. We had the crispy chilli beef and Camembert to start, followed by the Skate wing and Cajun spiced flat iron steak. The crispy chilli beef tasted amazing and so fresh, the Camembert with homemade cheese straw was delicious. I had the flat iron steak and it was cooked to perfection and so tender. The skate wing was melt in the mouth amazing. We were too full to have dessert but have had one on a previous visit and they are incredible. All waiting staff and the manager were attentive and couldn’t have done more.

    A perfect venue for any occasion, ours happened to be afternoon tea on New Year’s Day with family. The staff were brilliant, tentative, observant and yet discreet. Hats off to everyone… we will be back. Sam
