Too loud and they spent time on the large tables and barely spent any time helping us. They kept filling others tables glasses and walked by us. I would not go back.

Extraordinary atmosphere and food! It was my first time dining at Gadsby’s Tavern and will be my first choice upon every return to Old Town. As a lover of early American history, it was an honor to be in a place frequented by our Forefathers and I appreciate knowing that they, too, enjoyed celebrations and meals there. Gadsby’s must be commended for maintaining the “feel” of being in the 1700s, from lit candles on the table to pewter dishes and a lovely selection of Madeira and Port wines. The fried oysters and Sally Lunn bread, followed by French onion soup and an entree of crab cakes could not have been better. Every course was delicious and I should think that any choices from Gadsby’s menu are equally as praiseworthy. I look forward to returning soon, if even just to bask in the history of the building. The extraordinary food is the icing on the cake of this very, very special place!

Gatsby’s Tavern used to be one of my favorite restaurants in the area. I was looking forward to returning last night. I was eas greatly disappointed. We all had the prime rib. The meat was so tough that we could barely cut it. It had very little taste. Sadly, I think this was our last time to eat here.

Everything was excellent. The reason for “dropping a star” was I felt the tables were crammed too close. I could hear the conversations of the tables next to us word-for-word.

The food was quite good. Just small misses on some entrees that would have knocked it out of the park (e.g. the chicken pot pie came in a giant bowl with a puff pastry on top that was smaller than the bowl and disproportionate to the pot pie serving). There seems to be a new performative element to the dinner, which we hadn’t experienced in the past few years, we found delightful and funny. Otherwise the lighting, serveware, and atmosphere was what we hoped.

While the history and e of the restaurant are lovely, the food was mediocre. We did enjoy the ham and e biscuits. The seafood chowder was fine. But the peanut soup was basically watered down peanut butter. Not what was expected at all. And the Bread Basket was made up of overly dense sweet bread that wasn’t warm.

Pleasantly surprised! Wanted to go because of the historical aspect but was expecting more of a tourist experience with mediocre food. What we discovered was a unique experience, friendly service, fun atmosphere and incredibly good food! Can’t believe I have lived here this long and not been before. I’ll be back and will be bringing others! Thank you!

Not a great waiter. Wanted to get the table turned. Just got drinks when he wanted appetizer and main course order. Same silverware from appetizer thru dessert. Had to ask for clean spoon. Dropped off bill while having dessert...never asked if we wanted anything else like an after dinner drink. Disappointing. Lots of other good restaurants in Alexandria.
