Nestled in the beautiful village of Hurstbourne Tarrant, The George and Dragon has been a coaching inn since the 16th century. With flagstone flooring, original wood beams, a large oak bar and roaring wood burners the pub provides a warm and cosy ambience for relaxing over a pint or two during the cooler months and has patio areas outside for the sunnier evenings. Open from 11am, booking for lunch or dinner in one of our beautifully appointed dining areas will ensure a warm welcome, good ales and great food at this local inn.

The George is always a lovely pub to visit, either for a pint mid walk or for Sunday Lunch (which was this time for us). We’ve been twice in the past 3 months and it’s been great both times. The team have really managed well considering all the Covid issues in 2020. We will definitely be visiting again soon

Customer service was good and ambience was wonderful. Food was average, the burger seemed like cheap patty’s but the fries were really good. The nibble box was served in a takeaway box which was... different.

Poor food quality. Vegetables and Yorkshire Puddings were clearly left for some time before serving, they were very dry. Also, not a lot of food for a £16 roast.

Definitely overpriced, Sunday roast not good value , Yorkshire puddings more like cake ! Vege. Undercooked and two potatoes ! Not great

Sunday lunch, we love the George & Dragon it has a nice easy atmosphere and the staff are very obliging. It did Loose a star this week as the normally excellent Sunday lunch has some very strange Yorkshire Puddings! I am sure they will be back to there usual high standard next time!

A lovely meal with excellent service. Tables well distanced and staff in masks. If anything, slightly over priced, but very good food.

We had brunch at the restaurant on a Saturday with my husband and did not feel restricted due to social distancing. The tables are well spaced out and the team was very careful throughout the service. Food was lovely too. I would recommend this friendly gastro pub and will visit again to try the pancakes next time.

Lovely country pub. Plenty of car parking. Staff attentive and food was excellent. Only problem was it was very cold. It was mentioned to a member of staff who lit the log burner. However it smoked so badly initially that the front door had to be opened and a member of staff had to stand with a cushion over the smoke alarm!! It got colder and colder while the door was open but eventually started to warm up. Might be better in the future to light the fire before the customers arrive. Other than that I really enjoyed my meal and will return and recommend.
