   Very fun, bustling restaurant with delicious food and wonderful service. Try the sweet potatoes, the angle to pasta , the salami pizza, the Gruyère and onion pizzas , and the little gem salad.

   The food was just not as good as I remember and the service was a bit disappointing. Gjelina used to be my favorite restaurant when I lived in Venice. It's seems to have shifted and sadly, I don't feel compelled to go again.

   Menu had a lot of great options hard to decide. had 6 Oysters and loved the toppings they gave. Labneh with homemade perserves wonderful. main courses were fine, not great honestly. Maybe we should have gone with the pizza everyone was having. We sat up on the Roof, which I didnt really care for but much better than the VERY loud and many children in the main area. All staff was polite and helpful. Wish we had room for dessert as it looked fabulous too. We got some of the banana bread to go and that was great. Ordered Latte- they don't have 1/2 and 1/2 which I found odd, so had Oat milk, but no sugar offered. Id go back to try other items, but part of menu hit and miss and maybe server knows hes getting 20% they dont try harder for bigger tip, even though I tipped more.

   Our Favorite restaurant in Venice! Went for Sunday lunch a got the best table on the patio next to the fire pit. Always order the truffle & mushroom pizza. It’s a winner! The smoked salmon and toast with capers and pickles onion, herbed cream cheese spot on. The candied bacon delish! We also had the panini which was excellent…… don’t skip dessert! Warm date cake with a gooey sauce topped with vanilla ice cream Ned’s I say more! Thank you host & hostess for an amazing table.

   We enjoyed our dinner. It was noisy but fun, I wasn’t prepared for the all weather scenario and the breeze from the open door seating. The food was impeccable. We had a cheese platter with a delicious selection of breads/cheeses/nuts and spreads. We had the frites which were amazing and the Cacio e Pepe had a good flavor however the pasta was a little too al dente.

   We had booked a reservation for Christmas Eve a month in advance, but when we arrived we were not seated for 30 minutes past our reservation time. Nevertheless, once we were seated the service was prompt and friendly, and all of the food was delicious. The various vegetable sides were terrific, including the broccolini, the kombucha squash, and the carrots.

    Gjelina excels at farm-to-table freshness, where high quality produce are the stars of their dishes. The food here is good, if not ornate - straightforward flavors done well. The main downside of Gjelina is their service - it’s sincerely some of the worst I’ve encountered at a nicer restaurant. Despite having multiple dining rooms full of open tables, we weren’t seated until 25 min after our reservation time, and that was only after I went up and reminded the hostess of our existence (because she’d just seated a same-sized party that arrived after us). The servers themselves were also very lacking - our table probably rotated inefficiently through 3 servers across various points and they were all slow, blasé, & dismissive. I typically don’t mind an autogratuity %, but charging one in this case felt like a joke. The only highlight were the bussers, who were great
