We arrived 30 minutes early for our reservation, but were still seated right away. The service was great. Drinks were refilled promptly, and empty plates were cleared within seconds. The food was SO good. We got the Burrata, Beet salad, and roasted corn and couscous risotto as apps, and all three were delicious. As entrees, the steak, short rib, shrimp fettuccini, and Salmon were all a hit as well. Dessert did take a few minutes longer to come out than we had anticipated, but it wasn’t an issue for us. Just take note if going before a show maybe to skip dessert if you’re pressed for time. Overall, for dinner for 5 in the city, I felt everything was very fairly priced, and we had a great dinner!

We ordered the eggs Benedict and the pumpkin spice pancakes. Both were delicious. I sent one of the pancakes back because it was burned. The waitress was very helpful and replaced the pancake with another, which was perfectly cooked and delicious. The egg was perfectly poached for the Benedict, the sauce was buttery and perfectly executed. We also ordered the mimosa flight which was lovely. They had a very nice brunch menu and we would definitely eat there again.

The disappointment began when we arrived and were told that the dining room had been closed, and we would have to eat in the bar. We had booked a reservation for dinner in the dining room. We had hoped we might sit in comfort and discuss the show we had just seen instead of balancing on stools in a sea of noise. Not the refined experience for which we had hoped. They should make their hours more clear when booking reservations, and if it was a case of closing early, they should contact patrons and let them know of the change. As for the food, it was mostly inedible. The “lump cajun crabcake” was indistinguishable in taste from deep fried tuna salad. Actually, it was worse because of the texture. There were no lumps. It had the texture of mashed potatoes with a tasteless crispy shell. Two bites were all I could manage. When the server came to take the plate, she asked me how I liked it. I let her know it was terrible, and her response was “oh”. Not another word about it. Unfortunately, the filet mignon was no better. It had the same mashed potato texture but with an added mealiness that was extremely off-putting. It had a disgusting aftertaste that makes me suspect that it had been previously frozen and then thawed incorrectly. That would explain both the taste and the texture. Again, two bites were all that I could stomach. The mashed potatoes were tasty, with a great flavor of cream and butter; however, they certainly weren’t worth the $59 price of the entrée. When clearing the table, the server looked at the mostly untouched steak, looked at me, and didn’t inquire as to how I liked it. Finally, after paying the $200 tab and leaving what I would consider a generous tip ($60), I was most disappointed that no one bothered to thank us for coming, and certainly no one had anything to say about us not enjoying the dinner. That’s really the inexcusable part of the experience. We stopped at a food cart for kebabs on the way back to the hotel because we were starving.

I always love Glass House. It was just very noisy tonight and slow bar service / due to crazy New Year’s timing. Food as delicious as always.

My wife and I had a great dining experience at The Glass House Tavern. The restaurant itself has a much classier ambience and vibe than the word “tavern” might suggest. Our server, Eduardo, was very nice and attentive…and the food was delicious. My wife had the roast chicken and I had the short rib, and both were cooked to perfection. We sat in the upstairs section, where some of the tables are a bit close together, but it is NYC after all. All in all, we would definitely go back to The Glass House Tavern.
