Great Road Kitchen is more than just an Oyster Bar. Acclaimed Chef Chris Frothingham brings approachable yet sophisticated American Cuisine. Hand made pasta, local catch, quality meats and chops…in short something for everyone. Similar to his highly reviewed menu at sister restaurant Vine Brook Tavern with more of a concentration on local sea food…not too mention an amazing oyster bar!

First time at GRK. Place has a nice setup . Service was good. We ordered all food together as we were heading over to movie after dinner , but told waiter we were good on time. I will come back to that . Started with calamari frites which the waiter politely checked into whether we had ordered before. He let us know it was not traditional calamari but rather a long finger like frites. We went ahead - it was very heavy on the orange pepper glaze sauce. Would not order again. For dinner I ordered braised short rib and my wife the winter pesto shrimp pasta. First issue was that my wife dinner and mine came out very quickly and before the appetizer , which arrived shortly thereafter. So much for timing. The short rib was slathered with a limes sauce so much so it overwhelmed the beef. Same for my wife’s pesto pasta - very heavy on the sauce. Likely would not order either again. Just average . And for price paid , disappointing. Add to it that entree arrives before appetizer and was not good overall dining experience .

We have been here numerous times, but not sure if we will be back. We were very disappointed with the food this time. Our meals were luke warm, bland and the lobster special was overdone and dry. This is probably because these meals had to be sitting under the heat lamp for some time. I don't know if they were made ahead in error or because it was Valentine's day, but we ordered our dinners and the server literally brought them within 5 minutes.

This was our 2nd time here, based on a great first time experience, however the second time around was not the charm, very disappointing in the level of service, specifically when one of the party asked to have mushrooms added to the Brunch Burger, the response was somewhat confusing......the question was whether or not GRK had mushrooms to add to a burger, the response was that you had a lot of different kind of mushrooms, however they were all in 12oz portions and that having some added to a burger would mess up the measuring of the portions, very strange response to a simple request, in this day and age I would have thought it pretty simple to add some mushrooms, and even pay for it as an add-on.....I get the whole portion bit.......for food and cost control for the restaurant, simply adding some mushrooms would have been an easy fix and not disappointed a customer, who unfortunately based on this lack of response and not having the ability to be flexible, probably wont be back.

We've eaten here quite a number of times over the years. Service has gone down-hill a bit. Two things that really bothered us Saturday night: 1. We each ordered a glass a wine, the waitress came back and explained that they were out of that wine. That happens, I get it. We ordered a different glass and she came back and explained that they were out of THAT wine, too. C'mon - why have it on your menu if you don't have it in stock? At least have the server mention what you are out of when handing out the wine/drink menu. 2. Service was too quick. Even despite the wine debacle and despite the fact that we ordered appetizer and dessert (in addition to entrees), we were in and out within 52 minutes. Barely even made sense to have a babysitter!

The restaurant was fun, great bar seating, big open dining room the food was good but not exceptional for the value. The prices of the menu are very high and seemed overpriced.

First time to GRK. Enjoyed the drink and food. A little noisy but that adds to the ambiance. Recommend you give it a try.

Wow, the slowest service ever! It was like we were in France ..... 3 hours. Is it a ploy to get you to order more drinks? We were absolutely starving. Food was decent, but I won't be going back.

Our food was okay but not exceptional. There were only several menu choices that we liked so some just opted for a burger. Our guest asked for medium rare beef and got medium well so we had to wait. I got the short rib and it was very tough and I could not even cut it. I didn’t want to say anything in front of our guests so I brought it home and threw it away. We did get the berry crisp dessert which was excellent.

Really a mixed bag. The food was ok. Nothing terrible, but not great either and very much on the expensive side. I had the fish tacos for $19. Pretty expensive for a lunch item. The fish was ok. The guacamole really needed some salt. It was pretty bland. No salt on the table and by the time someone came by to check on us I was almost done eating. I had the bread pudding for dessert. It was a generous portion. Great for sharing size, but not that tasty. Some vanilla sauce would have really helped with the flavor instead of a small amount of whipped cream. I'm thinking this place is just too expensive for lunch. Total was $30 for these two items and I drank water.
