   Always a wonderful experience and wonderful dinner at Hal's. Our server Eddie was amazing and made the night memorable for me and my friends! We love celebrating the holidays at Hal's!

   Celebrated birthday with friends and it was top notch! Was very crowed so we had to wait a little for our reservation but we didn’t mind. Great atmosphere and service was impeccable. Hal’s steak is my favorite of all time!

   Wonderful food and made reservations but still waited about 20 minutes. Staff was apologetic. 20% gratuity was added without saying. He would have gotten more.

   Very good food, I felt like I started smoking waiting on my table at the bar. Are people still smoking cigarettes? WTF? I kind of get the cigars, but still not a pleasant environment and won't be back. Too many fantastic competitors without the cancer environment. I get that might be their scene, but it is not mine.    We went on a Thursday night and downstairs was super crowded. Thankfully we were seated upstairs. Our waiter was amazing and we all enjoyed the food. The Long Island was meh but the lemon drops were good!

   I ordered trout meuniere, which I’ve had several other places so know what to expect. The sauce is a flavorful brown sauce, but they just gave me a piece of fish sitting in melted butter. So I asked the waiter to please bring me the meunière sauce to pour over it. So he brought me a small gravy boat of more clarified butter. It was dark at our table bc the restaurant was dark, plus our candle had gone out, so I assumed it was the meuniere sauce & poured it over my fish. So then it tasted disgusting bc was denched in butter. Ugh! I ate some of it bc was hungry, but felt kind of sick the rest of the night, the way you do when you eat something that’s too rich. I don’t actually like drinking butter. The other food tasted good, but someone came over & sat down next to us who reeked of cigars. All 3 of the people at my table gagged from the strong smell, but my brother’s wife couldn’t finish her dinner bc is allergic to cigarette & cigar smoke, so had to hurry away from the table with 1/3 of her Chilean sea bass uneaten. She had to wait for us outside the restaurant bc there wasn’t anywhere inside the restaurant for her to stand bc it was so crowded, & it turned out that the problem was that Hal’s has a freaking cigar bar IN THE RESTAURANT. My brother & I don’t like smoke, either, so we didn’t like it, either, but it ruined my sister-in-law’s dinner & we didn’t want to get any dessert or coffee bc just wanted to get out. I wanted something to go with my fish, which was $48 just for a piece of fried trout (with NO meumiere sauce!) so got 2 side veggies, plus an appetizer of chopped potatoes with cheese on them for the table, no wine, just drank water, & it was $85. Plus, even though there were only 3 of us, they added a 20% gratuity so my bill was $101. I think that’s a lot to pay for apiece of fried trout, some spinach, Brussels sprouts, & potatoes. We won’t be going back.

    I have never had a bad meal at Hal's. I always spend at least one evening there every time I come to Atlanta. The service is always excellent as is the food. Bryan suggested I try the duck which was delicious! The lobster bites were also excellent as always and my son said his steak was cooked just as he asked. The noise level is high so we always sit upstairs. I look forward to my next visit to Atlanta and Hal's.
