   We loved it! Our waiter Zimri was friendly, Professional and very kind with regard to my Celiac issues. The catfish was excellent and the dining room is cute and historic. We would definitely go back.

   For starters we enjoyed a mushroom appetizer that was out of this world delicious. Then we thoroughly enjoyed the shaved cabbage salad. We could have easily stopped there but we had already ordered the crispy rainbow trout. I enjoyed the preparation of the fish although I rarely order this type of fish. As always our sweet tooth needed a finale and the pot de creme fulfilled that ending! Heirloom continues to be a shining star in Lewes and a must go to when visiting the lower Delaware region.

   This was one of the best meals we’ve had in a long time. The Cabbage Salad was both colorful and delicious. The Trout was outstanding. Angel’s service was excellent as usual.

   I went to Heirloom with five other people. We had the short ribs, fettuccine carbonara and trout. The food was excellent and the service was fantastic. We all want to go back as soon as possible.

   I had the basil gimlet. Refreshing and creative. I believe it was served by the bartender. This service style of the plates being served by staff who had something to do with preparing the dish was very nice. They explained the dish and were clearly proud to serve you. I had the rainbow trout. I ordered it mainly because of the promise of the turnip and pesto tart with tahini drizzle. While the trout was perfectly cooked, the tart was very disappointing. I was only occasionally able to taste the pesto, the tahini was MIA and the pastry was tough and very difficult to cut. Placing it on the bottom destroyed the puff pastry. It might have been much better served to the side with the fish plated on top of the slaw. The slaw was fair. It was too mildly seasoned for my taste and the rod shape of the carrots and cabbage made it difficult to eat. The size was too small to spear with a fork and the shape made it difficult to keep it on a fork. Unfortunately, spoons were not provided. The sourdough bread was welcomed and especially like the spice compound butter. Very nice. I had the apple tart for dessert. 5 stars for imagination. 3 stars for taste. I’m sure it would have been 5 stars for taste had it been served at room temperature instead of cold, though the bottom crust was soggy. While the food was a work in progress, the service was exceptional. Our waiter was always there when we needed him and never hovering. Although there were no tablecloths, he came and cleaned the crumbs off the table before the dessert course as I would expect at a fine dining establishment. Everything arrived when it should and service was fast though I didn’t feel rushed. Overall 4 stars with clear potential for 5.

   Been a supporter of heirloom. Tonight was not up to par. Waiter was excellent. Owner never asked how my meal was or recognized a good customer. chicken portion was very small and duck ordered medium was rare and tough. Sorry but tonight was disappointing
