Hugo's Frog Bar & Fish House opened its doors in February 1997 in the heart of Chicago's Gold Coast neighborhood, next to sister restaurant Gibsons Bar & Steakhouse. Over 20 years after owners Hugo Ralli and Steve Lombardo set out to open the city's finest seafood restaurant, Hugo's continues to be the destination for premier east and west coast oysters, crudos, frog legs, lobster and seasonal fish and shellfish, in addition to Gibsons Prime Angus and Gibsons Grassfed Australian steaks. Friendly service. We arrived approximately 20 minutes early and were able to be seated immediately. Waiters were very attentive and the food was delicious.

Overall, a great experience. Food was exceptional, and service in the dining area was fantastic. Jason the manager was welcoming and sincere. My only issue with the visit was the bartending staff was a bit aloof. They never really smiled or seemed welcoming to me, only to the regulars that would stop by. At a place like Hugo's I would expect the staff, bartenders included, to greet visitors with a smile and say something like "Welcome to Hugo's." They were not exceptionally busy so that was not the reason. I might go there again but likely will not hang in the bar before being seated for dinner.

It’s extremely loud and rowdy, tables super close together and some kind of crazy haka going on for birthdays. Don’t go to relax and enjoy…just too frenetic. Not sure I even noticed the food because it was so miserable trying to visit with our friends. Our waitress was wonderful but there was nothing she could do to make the experience enjoyable.

We always stop here for our favorite ribeye steak sandwich. Great sandwich...huge and very filling. We always ask for the horseradish sauce on the side...I think it takes away from the deliciousness of the steak but we love to dip our fries in it instead!. Oh yeah...the fries...yummy !
