   Had a 6:30 reservation and was finally seated at nearly 7PM, and then was seated right next to the kitchen doors which was like dining in the middle of a busy intersection and also very noisy. The food was good, the service average and the wait times for the meal and dessert was long. Not a very memorable experience for a $190.00 meal for 2.

   I chose to eat at Hugo’s for Valentine’s Day because it’s my favorite restaurant in Naperville. Our experience this time around was not at all reminiscent of previous visits. 1) We arrived 10 minutes early for our reservation (that had been booked 3 weeks in advance), yet were not seated until 15 minutes after our reservation time. 2) Our server was aloof and his service mediocre. While other tables were routinely having their water refilled, served bread, etc. we had to request these things. 3) The food itself was very good, as always. We will almost certainly choose another restaurant the next time we have a special celebration.

   We we were sat outside and it was a bit cold. I did not know that we were going to be outside with a reservation.

   Relative to our past outstanding experiences at Hugo's, this experience was somewhat disappointing. It was still good. But the service was not up to the usual high end. Our waiter was a bit forgetful and seemed rushed.

   This was our 3rd time to this location and unfortunately it will be our last. We dined on Valentine’s Day at around 5 PM, well before the evening rush. We were seated at a table in the front that was only a few feet away from the entrance. We were essentially dining with everyone coming in waiting for their table. In addition, the cold air was constantly plaguing us as our seat was so close to the entrance. The server was great, no issues there. We ordered our appetizers and they took quite a while to arrive. The lobster roll had no sauce or butter and the Oyster Rockefeller, which is our personal favorite, was basically at room temperature/on the verge of being considered cold. Would not recommend either of those dishes. Then our meals arrived. We ordered the lobster tail and the sea bass. Both of these dishes are considered their specialties and we have ordered before and enjoyed. Unfortunately again, the food had zero flavor. The butter that came with the lobster tasted like water and the gravy had a weird burnt taste. The sea bass was missing that classic flavor as well but was cooked fine. Overall, for $200+ and an hour and a half of dining it wasn’t worth it and would not recommend.

   On a very busy night the service was wonderful. Hugo's is a great Napeville spot.

   As always, the service was outstanding even though they were crazy busy. The manager was very gracious about accommodating a table request we had. My steak was a little overdone but they handled it right away. Food is expensive but really good. It was noisier than normal but that was expected given that it was Valentines Day !
