Hugo's has always been one of our favorite restaurants. However, last night one dish didn't make the grade. The oysters were yummy, the gumbo was very flavorful, though a little salty, as most restaurant dishes are, the jambalaya was what we expected, wonderful, inasmuch as we have ordered it in the past. However, the seafood fried platter, which was a special request--something I get EVERY time I go to Hugo's, was disappointing. This time, unfortunately, the breading was so thick I could not identify the proteins. To the restaurant's credit, it gave us a break on the price and apologized. In the past, the breading was always flaky and light--tempura-like--so perhaps it was a one night glitch. Through it all our server, Evan was AWESOME. From the beginning to the end of our meal, he was attentive, explained the special to the point we were salivating, attended to our special requests, and courteously helped us when our meal didn't meet our expectations. This is a WONDERFUL restaurant. They treated us right, but I may order something different in the future :-(

We were visiting friends in Roswell, GA, and wanted to have a decent dinner. They had never heard of Hugo's Oyster Bar despite living in the same area, but the restaurant had a good rating and reviews on OpenTable. We booked a table for 8. 3 of our group were delayed as they were arriving on a flight, but the service staff readily seated the rest of the party and took our orders of drinks and appetizers. When I first walked in, I was a little concerned. The atmosphere at first blush is of a standard pub, a bit noisy, felt very casual. We were seated at an 8-top in the back part of the restaurant, which was fine. Our server was excellent, provided timely check-ups and was prompt in taking orders and getting food out to us. The food was outstanding. I didn't write down what I ordered, nor did I get any photos this time. But trust me, it was excellent food. In summary - would I dine here again? Absolutely!! I hope to do so the next time we visit our friends in Roswell!

6 oysters for $21 is ridiculous. The blue crab app for $25 was also over priced and small portion and not fresh at all. Very disappointed bc we go to Hugo’s atleast 10 times a year Not sure we will return

The food was high quality and delicious. We loved the New Years Eve special of lobster tempura, ribeye steaks. The regular menu also offered a wonderful redfish and grilled and cooked oysters on the half shell. Try the Hugo’s oysters cooked with bacon, cheddar cheese and a jalapeño slice!
