We come here for our big family special occasions. Delicious food, impeccable service and simply phenomenally warm and friendly staff!!! Must order: Caesar salad, soufflés.

Fantastic experience and the food was amazing! Very romantic and lived the holiday decor. Did ask the staff about the naming history of the restaurant and his reply was “because we have an iron gate”. It was humorous and he promised to have a better story for us since we were visiting SF. (Waiter was excellent and deserves every bit of a full tip.) Look forward to a return visit.

Service was very slow. Our waiter kept returning to apologize for the wait, but we waited nearly an hour between our salad and the main course. My steak was very tough and the coffee with dessert was barely lukewarm warm. I had noted when I made the reservation that we were celebrating my wife’s birthday. No mention was made until he brought the check when he said he had just noticed it was a birthday celebration and jokingly said if we would you like him to sing happy birthday. I hope they were just having an off night, because it has been one of favorite places for a special occasion for many years.
