Situated on the west side of the Mayacamas Mountain Range overlooking northern Sonoma County, our patchwork of 170 micro-vineyards spans peaks, valleys, and ledges at elevations ranging from 400 to 2,400 feet. We cultivate vines in 26 soil types on slopes and aspects that are impractical to farm—to see how the land tastes when it becomes wine. Our focus is on Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay, and we seek exemplary quality. The rewards of high-altitude farming are profound: small, thick-skinned grape clusters of highly distinct character, each site revealing unique flavors, textures, and structures that reflect the immediate surroundings. We invite you to join us at John Ash & Co for an exclusive dinner with Stonestreet Winery. Indulge in the curated selection of wines paired with a 5 course dinner by our Executive Chef, Sergio Howland. $225 per person, inclusive of taxes and fees. Included: -5 course tasting menu -Wine Pairing for each course

Charles and Helen moved to the small town of Healdsburg after graduating from school in San Francisco. Charles worked as the local dentist and Helen as a pharmacist. Always possessing a love of the land the couple decided to move onto Westside Rd in 1956, and purchased 121 acres in 1956. In a simple beginning, Charles began to care for the 16 acres of existing vineyards which included Zinfandel, Mission, Golden Chaslis and Muscat. Charles became friends with Paul Heck (of Korbel) through his dentist practice when Paul would bring the family in for regular check ups. The two would occasionally chat about grapes and wine, sharing insight and advice. Envisioning the demand for premium wine grapes, Paul encouraged Charles to plant Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. In 1964, Charles began his plantings with six acres of each varietal. Eventually he obtained Pinot Noir bud wood from Karl Wente, the first well documented plantings of Pinot Noir in the Russian River Valley. Charles remembers Wente telling him the stock had come from France via the family’s old vineyard in Livermore. Charles and his son, John worked alongside each other, perfecting their viticulture techniques and expanding the vineyards. The Bacigalupi’s gained recognition as growers during the 1976 Paris tasting when the 1973 Napa Valley Chardonnay from Château Montelena with Bacigalupi fruit triumphed over many acclaimed French wines to be declared the undisputed winner. We invite you to join us at John Ash & Co for an exclusive dinner with Bacigalupi Vineyards. I was disappointed in everything about this dining experience. I have been to John Ash many times and have always enjoyed it. This time, though, it was entirely different. The food was mediocre, small portions (even smaller than the norm). The wine we ordered to accompany our food did not show up until we were almost done eating. The service itself was not horrible, but it was not "good", and certainly NOT on par with the price point. Absolutely not worth the money. There are too many other great dining options in the area. And so many of them care and put their heart into it. This was definitely not that. It seems to me that John Ash is simply riding the coat tails of the chef's name and not what they offer today. I won't be returning, that is for sure.

A true fine dining experience. There is a fully equipped bar, where we could have eaten, but we opted for the dining room. We had reservations, and I would recommend that you do so.

Menu was not the same as what was shown online. My eggs were cold and underdone and my companion got the wrong order. $16 for 6 greasy donuts was way overpriced and had to ask for jam listed on menu. Prior experience at this establishment was great but food has definitely gone downhill. Our server was very attentive, friendly and apologetic for the order mixup. Won’t be returning for brunch.

BREAKFAST at John Ash: We were so bummed when we were told they were closing down The River Vine -- the cafe at John Ash. BUT, we were told they'd be offering breakfast at the main John Ash restaurant instead, and we are so glad they do! First, our favorite waitress from The River Vine is still there--Vicki is great! Second, though we really liked the space at River Vine, the spaces at John Ash are much nicer, varied, and bigger as well. They have the full outside patio which is pretty and has great vies. The Covered Terrace is large, pretty and offers good views -- it is also fully enclosed in moveable glass walls so this offers great seating any time of year/weather. Then they also have the sweet enclosed area right behind The Front Room Bar--not sure what they call this area, but it is pretty and nice. Now for the food, I admit I was disappointed that they no longer have Huevos Rancheros on the menu (from The River Vine), BUT they have a very good substitute which is quite similar, ad that is their -- CHILAQUILES ROJOS -- crispy corn tortillas, queso fresco, crema, cilantro, avocado, refried black beans, charred guajillo chile, beer braised chorizo, pickled onions, two eggs any-style. This is very good. (For me, there are just too many crispy corn tortilla chips--they can easily use less if you ask.) COUNTRY BREAKFAST -- two eggs any style, spiced roasted potatoes, choice of chicken-apple sausage or applewood smoked bacon, whole wheat, or sourdough toast. The potatoes are so good, so is the bacon! We've also had the LUNCH at John Ash: BACON BURGER -- toasted brioche bun, 8oz angus beef, pickles, lettuce, tomato, roasted garlic aioli, apple-wood smoked bacon, caramelized onion, cheddar cheese, french fries. Very good -- that bacon, YUM!

This was a special Valentine’s Day menu. The chef made accommodations for my shellfish allergy with a delicious melon gazpacho. We both ordered the veal and venison. Excellent! The wine pairings were good as well. Especially the Cabernet with the main course.
