Great atmosphere, food, and service. Henry, our server, was exceptional and fun. He was the icing on the cake of our experience - which was the first time any of our group of 5 had dined there!

Celebrating the birthday of my spouse and seeing a show at Kennedy Center. It was our first time dining at Kingbird. Restaurant itself is beautiful, in a prime location for anyone seeing a show at the KC. We were greeted very warmly by the gentleman that was the host. Things went a bit downhill from there. Our server was pleasant but seemed as if maybe she was somewhat new. She took our drink, appetizer, and entree order all at once (which was great). It took a very long time for our cocktails to come out… to the point that both of our appetizers arrived well before the two drinks which was of course disappointing. When our entrees arrived, our appetizer plates had not been cleared so the food runner had a difficult time arranging things but was able to remove the appetizer plates once he dropped the food off. The food itself was good, not spectacular. Once the server took our order, we did not see or interact with her until she finally came by to ask if we wanted another drink (which at this point, we were ready to leave because we needed to get to the KC- we would have gotten two more drinks and ordered a dessert had we had any type of table touch from the server once our apps and/or entrees arrived). For what this restaurant is trying to go for (and frankly the price point of the menu), it was a miss for us and we likely won’t be returning anytime soon.

It was comfortable and quiet. Not private for a high tea; more a nice lunch. It was just tables next to each other in the restaurant. The tea selection was very nice and the foods were served quickly and were also nice. Nothing too creative.

The food was absolutely incredible. Our favorite was the scone but honestly can’t go wrong. I was surprised how full we left and just loved our experience. So much fun to try at least once!

The oysters were very overpriced, as were many things on the menu. While the preparation and taste were good, the pricing was not, particularly compared to oyster we had at other DC restaurants.

Very disappointed! Waiter was distracted & condescending. Had to ask for small plates for the bread & tongs for the asparagus. Worst part was having my medium rare steak come out as medium to medium well. On the second try they got it right but by that time the side dishes were cold. They comped our desert (which they should have!!) but overall for one of the best restaurants in DC this was a disappointment.
