"The place where New Yorkers eat"
Knickerbocker is known for its great Jazz and its 28 oz. T- Bone Steaks and is a favorite among many celebrities including F. Murray Abraham, Chris Noth and Alec Baldwin. Racheal Ray listed us in her "NYC Favorites" and has praised our Shrimp Cocktail, Creamed Spinach, and of course our T- Bone Steaks.
The word "Knickerbocker" itself, says "New York". Upon entering, you’ll know you're in the Village. Its wood paneled walls sport rare turn of the century posters and original caricatures by Al Hirschfeld. Large leather booths line the walls and brass rails accent the 100 year old marble bar, where Charles Lindbergh signed his Trans Atlantic contract.
We have survived the times by using the freshest ingredients from local markets, and offering good solid value and quality.

Never been disappointed by this place. What better way to spend New Year's Eve dinner that getting a good steak which comes with the best mashed potatoes and creamed spinach. They had an addition to the New Year menu which was bone marrow (to die for!) Special occasions are made extra special here which is where we go to every year to greet the New Year. But we also come on just regular days and it is just as good! Totally love this place!

It's a wonderful place with excellent food and a lovely atmosphere. This was our first visit and we'll be back. It's a little pricey for us, but we can save it for special occasions.

This was not worth the hype or the money. Yes the steak was good and so was the soufflé but that was pretty much it. To other reviews, the lobster bisque was in fact very bland and underwhelming. We only got three pieces of shrimp (other reviews said four) and it was basically tomato soup. There were no pieces/chunks of lobster. I read a response from the company that they use “lobster shells” but for the price of it… that’s just not enough. Cafe Zupas has a better lobster bisque for significantly less money. The corn bread in the bread basket was good too. We asked for (and were upcharged $4.95) for truffle mashed potatoes and were originally served regular mashed potatoes and when we asked the waiter about it, he took our cup of mashed potatoes back to the kitchen and brought it back with truffle just mixed in to what we had already been served. For that price, to not get fresh ones is kind of bull to me. The steak was very good and served well. The creamed spinach was disgusting but the coupe behind us liked it so maybe just an us issue. The chocolate soufflé for two was divine though. Would only really recommend that. So eat dinner elsewhere then go there for soufflé.

So sorry to hear that we did not live up to our reputation. We have always garnished our Lobster Bisque with 3 Jumbo (16-20) shrimp, never had chunks of lobster, but I will speak to the Chef about the taste. Did not receive any other negative comments. The truffle mashed Potatoes do have an up charge, and should have truffle oil, and chopped truffle breakings. It should have been re plated, but it is our classic fresh made mashed potatoes, then the truffle whipped in. Our creamed spinach is very popular, made with chopped spinach, heavy cream, butter, and our extra touch. Sorry not to your liking. I do hope you give us another try. Happy Holidays Ron D.
