   Six of us celebrated a birthday at La Coquille last night. Everything was fine. except for the mashed potatoes served with three veal dishes. They were barely lukewarm! Perhaps we should have complained about it, but we didn't. I just feel, you should know. Our server was excellent!

   I had the halibut special and my wife had the veal with artichokes. Both dishes were outstanding! The service was friendly and very professional and the restaurant seating and decor made for a very enjoyable dinner.

   Had a wonderful time. Weekly chef specials are always a delight. Of course you also can’t go wrong with the regular menu. Tonight’s special duck breast served with a wild rice pancake and a sweet red cabbage w/ cherries was to die for. Wines are excellent and the half bottle selection keeps growing. Can’t resist the desert cart with two or three chef specials added on. When you come the first time you have to come back. We have enjoyed LaCoquille for the last twenty years.

    Visited on a snowy/rainy night and ewe were seated promptly at a nice table. As usual, bread and olive oil provided great snacking while perusing the menu. Wide variety of offerings but as we were just back from a vacation wanted to eat light. Shared delicious 1/2 chicken with crispy skin, nice melange of vegetables, and substituted French fries over mashed potatoes(but you can't go wrong with either). We weren't rushed at all and although we were tempted by the delicious desserts we've savored in the past (chocolate mousse, cheesecake, and much more) we opted to be calorie conscious.
