Dining together allows us to better understand who we are, regardless of our social status. The food does not have to be elegant, complicated, or fancy. We find that busy people like simple food—the busier they are, the simpler the food. Our menu is straightforward, down-home Southern food with a few more contemporary dishes.Getting back to the table allows us to love and nurture each other and renew connections to our families—however they may be configured—in this diverse and ever-changing society. Such connections are crucial in a fast-paced world where we feel more disconnected every day. One of the best ways we know how to restore that daily balance is to sit down at our table. We should all think about returning to the sanctity of the table, where we can rebuild our families whether they be given or chosen, and reconnect with those we love and choose to love. Our table is a familiar, uncomplicated, friendly place where we can celebrate.

We were seated 10 minutes early for our 1pm reservation. Out server arrived at our table immediately and greeted us. We put in drink orders then when she came with those we ordered our appetizer and meal. We thought it might take a bit of time as the place was full but it was all out quickly. Ordered thr pot pie and braised beef and both good. This is where service got slow but I think they seated 3 or 4 new tables in her area at once so she was busy. Ordered thr mint cheesecake and that was amazing. Bill was $80 plus tax so not really bad for 2 people to have a nice meal with drinks and dessert. The tree and Christmas decorations were beautiful and we lucked out and were seated near the tree. Will make it a tradition each year to go back. Lucked out on the reservation because we missed it when it opened. So glad we got one!

The ambience was good. The food was a little underpar, especially the hamburgers, but the experience at the pier was awesome.

Being from Chicago, I was a bit skeptical about a restaurant at Navy Pier. But we have enjoyed Blue Door Kitchen and Garden and decided to give Reunion a try before heading to the 'theatre.' What a wonderful surprise! It's a lovely unpretentious space. We thoroughly enjoyed the prixe fix theatre menu. We started with the Division Bell cocktail, which was great, of course, with mezcal and a cherry. We had the deviled eggs and crab cake, both delicious Southern classics. Then we had the caesar salad and brussels sprouts with kale, again both delicious. The brussels sprout and kale were blended with pecans, bacon and parmesan. What's not to love about that combination? Then we had the spring pasta and the salmon with brussels sprouts and sweet potato (roasted and delicious). The salmon was cooked to perfection. The pasta was fresh and full flavored with rich pesto. I'm not a big fan of desserts but thoroughly enjoyed the hummingbird cupcake. Husband loved the key lime--the aroma alone was amazing. Half-price bottle of wine (Wednesdays, it seems) added to the enjoyment. And finally, our server was wonderful, and the chef warmly visited each table. Chef is humble, kind, and clearly very talented. We live in Chicago and will gladly return to Reunion, especially before enjoying a play.

The food was delicious, generous portions. The restaurant was extremely loud. Louder than any establishment I’ve ever been to by far, but that’s alright. We will definitely be back next year!
