Vallozzi's started over 50 years ago when Helen Vallozzi was selling homemade pastas out of her home. Helen opened a take out restaurant in Latrobe, PA a few years later where her popularity exploded. In 1977, Ernie Vallozzi moved his mothers location to Greensburg where it is still open and operating today. In 2012 Ernie's son Julian expanded the tradition in to downtown Pittsburgh. Vallozzi's Pittsburgh has recently joined a mere 1,200 restaurants worldwide as a recipient of the Wine Spectator Magazine's Best of Award of Excellence and is the only Italian restaurant in Pittsburgh to receive such an honor.     My family celebrated Thanksgiving at DelFrisco’s and it was a great experience. The service was top notch and staff were incredibly friendly. The food was delicious. Skip the steak sauces, the quality of the meat is top notch and prepared perfectly. Excellent Experience!

    Mowgli was an awesome guide in my excellent culinary experience. He was the perfect balance between attentive without being intrusive. My steak was cooked to perfection. The chef outdid themself. I highly removed this place for its food, cocktails, and experience.

    Eddie Merlot's is our "go to" for Thanksgiving. Everything was exceptional! We had crab cakes, filet mignon pot stickers, Bourbon ribeye, filet mignon oscar style, sweet potato casserole, tempura green beens, all were exceptional! The only disappointment was we couldn't get our favorite dessert, banana's foster, due to being too busy. Excellent meal and service. Will be back!

    We opted for the calamari before delving into a traditional Thanksgiving Dinner. The calamari was absolutely perfect. I think I shall always get this dish at Capital Grille! Thanksgiving Dinner was good as these things go. My husband thought it was excellent. Turkey and gravy were excellent, as was cranberry chutney, we both agreed on that. We disagreed on stuffing. It was wet, and I like mine more crunchy, so that was just a matter of preference. But I wish they had had a bit of both! Green beans with almonds were always good; I did not try the mashed potatoes yet - I won’t try them until the leftovers we have tonight or tomorrow. As to the sweet potatoes we ordered, I was really looking forward to them, and I was really disappointed. Their consistency was like mushy baby food - worse than applesauce - that I can’t imagine even a baby would even eat them because they were so horribly sweet. Really, they made the hair on the back of my neck stand up on end. I only tried two fork fulls (the second one was just to confirm that what I first tasted was in fact as bad as I had thought - sorry Capital Grille, but this one was a definite loser). We did not take any home. My husband talked me out of telling the waiter how bad I thought they were… I’m not sure why. If the chef thought they were good enough to send out, I don’t know what he was thinking… My husband had cheesecake for dessert. I snacked on its decorative berries. Dessert of course got an A+. So all in all, except for the sweet potato mash up, another excellent meal at Capital Grille. They told us they expected to sell 1100 turkey dinners before the day was through. That’s a LOT of turkey!!! THANK YOU TO ALL THE SERVERS AND COOKS AND CHEFS AND STAFF THAT MADE TODAY POSSIBLE!!! We totally appreciate your efforts and your sacrifices by being at work today!

    Terrance was a very attentive excellent server. The chopped salad was delicious with the homemade bread. Got orecchiette which has such a great blend of chicken, garlic, squash and pasta. Our other entree was Cioppino filled with scallops, swordfish, shrimp, mussels & calamari-- Unbelievable!! Portions are perfect. Especially love the option to have half orders on pasta. A true asset to Downtown- highly recommend.
