Since 1746, the building that houses this tavern has played a part in the establishment of our nation; first as a respite for stagecoach travelers expanding westward and later as a covert rendezvous point for George Washington, Marquis de Lafayette, and other leaders of the American revolution. It is believed that during the infamous winter of 1777–1778 at Valley Forge, a major figure in the Continental Army, master military mind Friedrich Von Steuben, designated the tavern as a secret black powder munitions stash for Continental Army couriers. Another great dinner at one of our favorite steak house restaurants. The CG never disappoints with outstanding service, delicious steaks and cocktails. The wine selection is impressive with a nice variety of pairings to go with your meal. The service is outstanding as we have come to expect here. The meal is paced perfectly with just the right balance of attentiveness. Steaks were deliciously seasoned and cooked to perfection at the requested temperature. We were seated in a booth with a view into the kitchen providing a cinematic experience of a well run kitchen staff. It was a great time to spend with family to celebrate the holidays.
