Come dine in this beautifully restored Uptown restaurant on Magazine Street and enjoy James Beard Award Winning Chef Justin Devillier's contemporary Louisiana Cuisine. The La Petite Grocery name pays homage to the history of its home, a building that’s stood for more than a century. The original structure was built in the late 1800s and called the Central Tea, Coffee and Butter Depot. In 1908, a fire devastated the space and it was transformed into a full service grocery store. Later it was most notably a fine foods and butcher shop, VonderHaar’s Fine Foods until 1982. When La Petite Grocery opened in March of 2004, they similarly aspired to provide the neighborhood with exotic teas, locally roasted coffee, and fresh produce. By doing this, we hope to provide a dining experience that evokes nostalgia of old New Orleans. Reservations are preferred.

We visited from Florida for a second time to celebrate a milestone birthday 8 years to the day on the 20th of January. We were greeted with excitement and smiles from the wonderful staff. The dining room was warm and cozy given New Orleans was expecting unprecedented temperatures and snow! The staff were professional and friendly even though the Parrish was preparing for their family’s safety and own well being with upcoming major road closings they truly went out of their way to celebrate with me and my husband! We were given complimentary champagne. My last experience, I ordered Cherries Jubilee and was given a table side show beyond my expectations. This time I gleefully inquired about it again as it was not on the menu. The Maitre’D assured me he would do whatever he could to make my day special and he did not disappoint! He put a show and even poured the fire on the tablecloth in front of me! The dessert was amazing and will bring me back! The food, ambiance and overall service was outstanding and I will certainly return in another 8 years to this wonderful establishment! Hopefully it will not be in the middle of a snowstorm again!

The noise level was lively yet not overwhelming or loud. There was an ambiance of families reuniting and reminiscing, as well as couples and friends enjoying a meal together before heading out for the evening. The waitstaff were courteous, well-informed, and attentive to their areas. The menu offered a wide range of dishes to accommodate diverse tastes. My fried oyster salad included large pieces of bacon notably larger than typical "bacon bits" or any kind of bacon I have ever seen. For such a busy place, everything and everyone appeared to work seamlessly.

No strangers to Domenica..we had fantastic service, great food and drinks (even a mocktail which should be on the happy hour menu). We asked for window seating, but were told all had been reserved. Not sure that was truly the case.
