Our second time here and everything was as wonderful as the first time. I had the salmon the last time and was hoping to branch out to the crab cakes. But our server Victoria steered me right. She said it’s a different preparation from the last time and you will love it. It was divine and though I usually eat only half of what I order — I ate almost the whole thing. The salmon was cooked perfectly and instead of sitting on rice or potato purée it sat on three divine lemon ravioli . It also had a wonderful combination sauce I cannot describe. It is amazing to my husband and me that this gem of a restaurant is in Effingham IL. It would be a top hiot spot in any major city. How lucky we are to get a great meal as we drive between Chicago and Nashville.

We went to The Stables to celebrate a family member retiring. I spoke to the manager, Ike, a few days before and he said that he would set us up with a good table and waiter. He came through in spades. We got a private room (Named The Gangster Room) and it was perfect. Neil was our waiter and he orchestrated a great experience from bourbon to dessert suggestions. Turns out he is a good photographer as well! The ambiance is amazing as the character of the former stables were left intact. The live jazz music was another great touch. I thoroughly enjoyed my evening here. The food was tasty and the ambience was great. Also the best aperol spritz I've had yet! More than anything though was the superior service from the staff. They were very attentive and professional. They were excellent and made the experience even more enjoyable. Hospitality is everything!

This is a great south side restaurant. The four of us each ordered different dinners, and everyone complimented our waitress and the chef. The restaurant was packed. We had a reservation, and were seated promptly on time. We go there often, and our experiences have always been good.

The food is always delicious. This is the second or third visit, though, with slow service from the bar. For such a large seating area, they may need to invest in more bar staff.
