In 1688, Joseph Haviland built a tidewater gristmill that provided the locally-grown grains to a nearby bakery that supplied farmers and tradesmen with bread. It was the first public oven in New York State. Haviland’s Old Grist Mill and the public bakery were community gathering places for two centuries. Inspired by Joseph Haviland’s noble efforts, the Haviland Kitchen & Bar has been established for our neighbors.     Went to the pantry, Tyler with friends on Wednesday night. The place was empty. The fall decor walking in and the interior of the restaurant were beautiful. We ordered a Reuben, cheeseburger, veggie flatbread, and a pre-chicken sandwich. Drinks for a Coke, a beer,and a half-price bottle of wine that was a great value at $17. The bill with tip came to $170. I thought that was a lot of money for four diner, sandwiches and fries. My husband won’t be back but I might go with friends for brunch. The brunch menu looks interesting
