Restaurants near Midtown Shopping Center

We had planned this night out for several months as it would be our 47th wedding anniversary. Ruth Chris was not our first choice. We are new to the Mobile area and have been trying to find a special place just for those special occasions that call for a dining experience above and beyond the norm. To be honest, we we’re getting discouraged as most of the restaurants with top ratings had not met our expectations. I had made reservations At several different restaurants but was always unsatisfied with their menus. The food choices and descriptions never met my expectations. Finally, in a moment of despair, I thought of Ruth Chris, and did a search as I really didn’t know if there would be a Ruth Chris in the Mobile area. Surprisingly there was and I made our reservation and canceled the other, previously made reservations. Ruth Chris, as mentioned, was not at the top of my list. I’ve dined at a number of Ruth Chris restaurants, all around the US, including Miami, San Francisco, and NYC. The food and service was always good but never at the top of my list of best places to dine. The menu for the Mobile Ruth Chris seemed to be a cut above the other restaurants we had experienced as well as others we had been studying for this special night out. Well, the night finally arrived and then, the weather turned very bad, with a tornado watch and thunderstorms all around us. But we persevered and departed early in the hope that we might be seated early and that the weather would not spoil our evening out on the town. The rain made it tricky finding our way to Ruth Chris but upon arriving, we were very warmly welcomed in out of the stormy weather. The welcome was overwhelming and made us feel like regular dinners and part of the family. You expect a snobby attitude at such an elegant restaurant but our experience was completely at the opposite end of the spectrum. A very warm welcome and we were seated immediately, even though we were thirsty minutes early.

It is cold outside. Every time the door opened, and was held open, it was cold. We love Dumbwaiter. And food was very good, except they plated my vegetable, green beans, early so the beans were cold. Not very good cold. Our waitress was very attentive. They put us at a two-top while all other twos were at a 4-top. I asked for a 4-top, but was told they were reserved. When we were done, there were still several 4-tops vacant. We usually order a variety of food and do need the 4-top for space. It was crowded. We made it work.

The Noble South is always a treat. Great service, innovative food options that put a twist on traditional southern food. I really appreciate the knowledgeable wait staff with great recommendations. I will return again and again.
