While Slanted Door is opening this new location in Napa, it all began with an idea to open a Vietnamese crêpe stand or a noodle shop in the Tenderloin neighborhood. Charles Phan searched for a location but was told that there were already too many Vietnamese restaurants in the area. He moved the search to his own neighborhood: the Mission. He quickly found an available space on Valencia Street.The Slanted Door was born in 1995 with the goal of elevating Vietnamese food to the next level—modern design, sustainable local ingredients, quality teas, and wine pairings. The Slanted Door was quickly recognized and became too small to accommodate the reservation requests. The growing restaurant moved to South of Market in 2002. It was there that the team integrated a craft cocktail program, which was one of the first restaurants in San Francisco to offer craft cocktail menus. The Slanted Door moved again to the San Francisco Ferry Building in 2004.

Napa Valley Bistro was opened in 2013 by chefs Bernardo Ayala and Ernesto Martinez, (also co-owner of Market in St. Helena). Their friendship and working relationship, which has lasted over 20 years was so successful, they decided to pool their resources and stake a claim in downtown Napa's expanding culinary scene. Their aim was to create their own version of classic world cuisine in a comfortable space where family and community could gather for any occasion. The twist is evident in the menus, which sample fare from around the globe.     Cole's chop house was as good as it has been for several years. We had just visited them over the New year and had a fabulous meal, service was great, etc. A must go to when in Napa!!

    I’ve been going to this restaurant for years, the staff has always been incredibly friendly. The food is always fresh, I honestly could not be more happier with the exceptional service and quality overall. I love the ambience and how quick we were seated for my 5:30 PM reservation, the waitress came by took our orders and I was shocked with how much food we ordered when everything came hot and ready in less than 10 minutes and even after we are done, they clean up the table right away and I was honestly just floored how well the service was. I would highly highly recommend this establishment I have definitely been a fan for years and will continue doing so.

    Very cozy place with friendly and helpful personnel. Great food! Especially the tomato sauce on the meatballs and the pizza! Shrimp linguine also very tasty with nice garlic sauce and giant tasty shrimps! My family and I were very pleased 😀
