Restaurants near Old Salem Museums & Gardens

Fantastic meal. We had a little bit of a rough spot on arrival as the staff seemed to ignore us when we got to the restaurant. But once we were seated our waitress was wonderful: attentive and knowledgeable about the food. When she didn’t know answers she had the owner come over to talk to us about the oyster selections (really appreciate the love of food that the staff shows). Food was excellent. We got oysters to start, appetizers including the crab and artichoke dip and the steak tartare, followed by skewers from the grill (mushrooms and leek, pork belly, bacon wrapped scallops, and lamb kofta). Each was unique and flavorful. The also have a wide selection of beverages to cater to those who drink and those that don’t, which is nice to see done well with abundant options for anyone. Overall, we had a great experience and will definitely be back soon. Only suggestion: I would love to see an oyster flight with one of each type of oyster available. It was fun to compare two different types, but would have been great to try all the varieties available. Thanks for a great evening!

We dined at the Katherine for Thanksgiving. The food and service were great! Cynthia was our server and did an excellent job. This is the third time we have dined at the Katherine for Thanksgiving and have enjoyed each visit.

Everything was excellent. At home intimacy in a public place. Classy, kind upper class people, from the staff to the clientele. I can’t wait to go back. Lots of regulars for a reason. I went to prom here in 1988 and I’m still going because it’s my favorite place. Never any rif raf or shenanigans…and from what I can tell. They operate off of the old school rule of the customer is never wrong. I had a last minute request and the young lady granted it, just like that. Always an amazing experience. Thank you Ryans!

Excellent food as usual. Wonderful service. A bit noisy because we were near the kitchen but overall a very enjoyable evening hosting family from out of town.

This was our first visit to Rooster’s and we were impressed by the food, the service and the varied menu. It’s comfortably nice casual, although I did see a few guys very casually dressed, but, hey, whatever… We will definitely return for lunch or dinner to try more on the menu. We had lunch - one fried oyster salad and one strip (grilled as ordered)with frites and a side of spinach.
