- MMichaelLos Angeles •152 reviews4.0Dined 6 days agoI'm glad we ordered off both menus because we all preferred the selections off the regular menu. The salad with the endives was a real winner, the salad with the duck skin was lost on us. The duck bread pudding was a quirky idea that actually worked quite well on the plate. I'm glad we got to try the pressed breast because we had read a lot about this dish. The cassoulet on the side was the best cassoulet, hands down, we all have ever had. The chocolate souffle was really good but the apple tart wasn't a favorite. The service was very attentive and friendly. They have some great signature cocktails on the menu, and I liked being able to order a glass of a good Bordeaux. If we went back, we all agreed we would order off the regular menu. The endive salad for an appetizer and ask if they could make the cassoulet as a main course. (and of course pair it with a glass of that great Saint-Estephe)More infopasjoliPrice: Very Expensive• French• Santa Monica•4.6
- JJeffLos Angeles •71 reviews5.0Dined 7 days agoI've been a patron of Chinois since its opening 41 years ago and it's always excellent. Last night was no exception. We shared a couple of the specials including the crab cakes topped with a large shrimp, an eggplant dish and some of the old standbys including the veggie fried rice and the chicken salad and more. All was delicious, the service attentive and the staff super friendly. A visit by Wolfgang himself who stopped by to chat along with the ever present front of the house - Bella just further enhanced the evening.More infoChinois on MainPrice: Very Expensive• Chinese• Santa Monica•4.7

- SStephanieNew York City •17 reviews5.0Dined on 29 Dec 2024It was a delicious meal with wonderful service, except for one minor matter (our tap water was not refilled at all during our meal). Yes, it is quite expensive but sometimes a good meal is worth the splurge. The bread was fantastic as was the olive oil accompanying it. The Prosecco was very good. Our appetizers were very special — I had the bone marrow and my husband had scallops — both were among many specials offered tonight. The tomato sauce on my pasta was among the best I have ever tasted — and I come from an Italian family and have traveled to Italy multiple times. The tartuffo affogato was so good I’m not sure I can ever order one anywhere else. Is $70 a lot of money for a piece of fish? Yes it is. I can’t mislead anyone on that but quality and selection come with a price tag. If you feel like it’s time for an excellent meal then by all means treat yourself to an evening there. Your wallet will be lighter but your stomach will thank you.More infoVia VenetoPrice: Very Expensive• Italian• Santa Monica•4.7
