Restaurants near Penny Branch Golf Club

We were seated promptly at a very small table for two. I could not push back my chair because there was a partial wall behind me….it was too confining. The restaurant is quite dim and the music playing was not unpleasant but odd. Considering this is a somewhat upscale restaurant I wasn’t expecting to be listening to Rick James and other disco favorites at a considerable volume. Our server was very nice and took care of us very well during our visit. The food was quite good and presented well. I had the blackened dorado and my husband had the shrimp and grits. We really enjoyed the arancini appetizer but there was only 3 so I let the husband have seconds. For dessert I had the crème brûlée and it was tasty but no actual evidence of a vanilla bean could be found in it. The carmelized sugar on top was done to perfection. Husband had the chocolate mousse with shortbread cookies for dipping.We loved the mousse and the cookies were divine. This review would have been 5 stars except for the seating, the music and the lighting. I think some easy tweaks are in order!

Loved the good, our service was excellent! Made for a great Valentine’s evening

We thoroughly enjoyed our Valentine’s dinner! As we were led to another part of the restaurant, the set up was romantically decorated just enough to be a bit whimsical. Our server, Amelia was outstanding…attentive and considerate too. The food was tastefully delicious…from the warm crusty bread served with herbed butter; second course of seared scallops with risotto was heavenly; followed by raspberry sorbet with white wine to cleanse our palate; then the warmth of the flavorful tomato bisque with a ball of mozzarella; then the chef himself served us a canapé of lump crabmeat and shrimp in aioli …just enough to prepare us for the main course was delectable. My pesto crusted salmon was cooked perfectly matched with charred broccoli which I enjoyed very much. My husband’s steak Oscar was delish and the accompaniments with it was tasty too. To prepare our palates for the last course, the heart shaped marshmallow drizzled in pineapple syrup with edible flowers, was a perfect touch. Lastly, the finale, a box full of assorted made in-house desserts was a feast for the eyes… strawberries enrobed in golden milk chocolate, cherry filled dark truffle chocolate, red velvet with cream cheese frosting, caramel cheesecake, and napoleon with pink leaf white chocolate was a perfect ending to this romantic feast… every dessert was just the right sweetness …imaginative and creatively delicious! In addition, they were gracious to accommodate my request to have a bowl of fruits for dietary reasons for dessert as well… they didn’t disappoint…thank you so much! But wait, before leaving we were given take-away boxes filled with linzie cookies and their homemade teabags…a nice remembrance from this Valentine’s dinner at Common …in a wonderful “un”common experience… Thank you so much for making our dinner experience extraordinary! Another excellent evening at Miramare. For two of the couples this was their first visit. It will not be their last. The staff is always welcoming and helpful, the food always delicious. Tried two new (to me) dishes; the mussels starter (and every mussel was open), and a special, fettucine w ground sausage in a cream/bechamel (?) sauce which was great as well. And don't worry when the chef (occasionally) changes the menu; any favorite dish you miss means a new potential favorite is being added. Later evening parking can be challenging in the winter months. Habersham is lovely, but small, residential areas predominate within a block or two.

It was my first time in Savannah, and although a reservation for dinner on Valentine’s Day was unavailable, we were able to get one for the night before in early evening. When we found the table for two to be quite small, we were quickly and pleasantly moved to a table for four. Drinks were the Savannah Peach (smooth and not too strong). Our dinner included French onion soup, grouper, crab cakes, and sides. Dessert (excellent choices) was chocolate mousse cake and the Peach Trio. The entire meal was absolutely delicious. Our server was attentive, accommodating, informative and not at all intrusive. Over all, a wonderful experience for a special, romantic long weekend. Our only regret - we wanted to return for dinner on Saturday evening, but there were no tables available. Next time…
