It all began with a love story and a dream. Linwood, a chef, and Ellen, a reporter, met 36 years ago in a restaurant of course! They married and began to envision that someday they would open a restaurant of their own. The restaurant’s first business plan was written at their dining room table on an electric typewriter. In 1988 Linwoods opened its doors, and it has been a labour of love for more than thirty years. Linwoods’ cuisine consists of the freshest ingredients, and inventive preparation. Our service is warm and attentive. We have developed a reputation for consistency an attention to detail. These qualities are key to our catering business as well. This extensive aging process is what separates us from our competition. We have been described as serving a “Ruth’s Chris” steak at an “Outback” price.     We had a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner in the restaurant’s Maryland Room, near the fireplace, just lovely. Rakeeda, our server, was terrific, and though the place was bustling, every time she came to our table, she had a beautiful smile, and was ready to help with whatever we needed. We had the special Thanksgiving menu, which was so delicious — from the gumbo starter, to the moist, yummy turkey, sides and dessert! The portions were generous too. We felt that the meal was a good value, and were nicely surprised to receive take-home plates with a sampling of the entire Thanksgiving meal. Even though the dining room was busy, we were not rushed at all and really enjoyed the whole experience.

    I ate here last night for my 21st birthday, and the food and drinks were great, and service was exceptional. Our waitress, Molly, was absolutely amazing. In addition to the caring service she went above and beyond to give me a pep talk and connect to me and my family. I appreciated it so very much.
