Seasonal Local American Cuisine. We use many local products from local farmers. We are located about a mile west of the University of Virginia campus. Historic old home turned into a restaurant. Three small intimate dining rooms upstairs, one on the ground floor and a large weather protected patio. In the winter the Patio is heated. Family owned since 1995.     We took our out of town house guests to The Local since we have always had great meals there. Our guests enjoyed the food and the service too. We will definitely be back to our “local” eatery, only a walking distance of eight blocks away, again, for out of town guests and to enjoy ourselves. Thank you to The Local.

    Excellent meal and service at the bar as reservations were not available. Delicious dinner for two included sharing the surryano ham as a starter, and then hand rolled fettuccine and wild rockfish as entrees. Lovely selection of wines and cocktails as well. A friendly atmosphere and great food guarantee that we will return on our next visit to Charlottesville. VA.

    Best meal we've had in awhile with large portions! They accommodated a change to our reservation which was very appreciated. The spacing was a little tight, so it was a little loud, but the service was fantastic and the food was superb. Highly recommend Public Fish & Oyster.

    Outstanding! Food and service were top notch. I have never had such fresh scallops, the chirashi bowl was killer and the craft cocktails amazing. Great place, definitely worth it and will go back.
