Early January 2025. Cool, clear weather and the Christmas lights still everywhere at the Mission Inn, which is where this restaurant is, just inside the main gate. Beautiful, but without the large crowds. Pretty much all outdoor seating (the other restaurants on the premises are indoors). Tables about half full. We were called to our table approximately 10 minutes after checking in for our reservation. Nicely lit and low noise, so it was easy to talk with my family. The waiter was barely efficient and neither friendly nor unfriendly throughout the meal (ex: we had to hunt him down each time we needed something; salt and pepper, doggy bags; because he never came to check on us and it was other people who brought the water and the food to the table). After bringing the bags to us and seeing that we were obviously done (and not offering us dessert), we sat another 15 minutes waiting for the check. The chips and salsa were excellent. Our table ordered a taco salad with chicken as the meat (the shell was very good and thick). It was easily large enough for two people. The young ladies with me found the salad to be very bland and nothing special. I agreed. I ordered the carne Asada Sopas. Two very small half sopas (would have made a better appetizer), topped with a small amount of meat (sour cream on the side) but tasty. Some beans and rice on the plate. The ladies also liked the sopas. None of us thought much of the bland beans and rice. Last order was chicken tortilla soup. I liked it, but the ladies said it needed seasoning. The waiter got his 20%, because everyone has bad days, but when the food is this bland and uninteresting, the wait staff can help take up the slack by making the guests feel welcome. The ambiance was the redeeming quality. PS, the only non alcohol option on the menu was water. It was very good without chemical aftertaste, and had nice fresh lemon slices on the side plates.

Nice ambience, decent service, way overpriced bland cold food. Gave it a chance a few times, won’t be going back. Can find delicious authentic Mexican food elsewhere for equal or less money. Street tacos taste better than the ones offered here. Chips were mostly crumbs, meat not tasty, just not good food at all which is a shame because it should be in such a nice hotel.

Visited Las Campanas for NYE, setting and ambiance was great this time of year. However the service and prices left a lot to be desired. Food was expensive for what you got, my sons ordered Duane’s burrito & left hungry ( hardly any meat & mostly beans) for $29 dollars each. My wife and I ordered the fajitas to share, server brought us 3 tortillas for a whole plate of fajitas. Service was really slow? Our server hardly checked on the table, even though restaurant wasn’t busy (there were 6-7 open tables as we left at 830 pm). This used to be one of our favorite spots to visit during the holidays, but I don’t think we’d comeback especially for the price & service.

This is a “must do” experience during the holidays to experience the beautiful Mission Inn. The guacamole and margaritas are delicious. Our group of 4 girlfriends enjoyed a New Years get together for lunch. Enjoyed it immensely!

Extremely rude server. We had to keep waiting and then there were three of us and they gave us one basket of chips and then we asked for another basket of chips to go with the salsa and he said OK. I have to charge you when generally chips are free at every Mexican restaurant. Even additional chips. And for those prices, the chips should be free. Something was in our water looked like cilantro and we asked for a different glass of water and he gave us what appeared to be the same glass with the same straw, and we could never get a new cup of water. Beans and rice was cold and Carnitas in the taco was super fatty. Drove all the way from San Diego to go there and see the lights only to be treated rudely.

Food and service were great. We did come early to see the Inn and lights and have a cocktail in the presidents lounge before dinner. 2 years in a row and they are understaffed, long wait time to get a server and then wait for drinks. That part was not up to par.
