Lehja is an award winning modern Indian restaurant located in Short Pump Town Center in Richmond. Our Executive Chef Sunny Baweja has been named Semifinalist for the prestigious James Beard Award for"Best Chef Mid Atlantic" category for 2019 and 2020. We have been proudly named as “Restaurant of the Year” by Richmond Magazine and “Best Richmond Restaurant” by EATER in 2023,2024. Esquire named Lehja “100 restaurants America can’t afford to lose during pandemic.”
Sunny always strives the freshest ingredients and seasonal menu. Our Wine List has been awarded "Best of Award of Excellence" by Wine Spectator. Sunny Baweja has been invited to Food Festivals across the country . Sunny has won many competitions around like Broad Appetit, Burger Blast, American Heart Association’s Heart ball 2018 “Chefs Challenge”to name a few. Sunny was also the Headliner Chef at 2018 “ Taste of Richmond”. Washingtonian magazine has also featured Lehja as one of the must visit Richmond Spots.

Lehja is my favorite Indian and among my favorite overall restaurants in Richmond. We started with the blue crab appetizer with pappadam. Then, we shared the Kerala curry, Saag Paneer, and 5-dhal curry with Garlic Naan. Everything was scrumptious and delicately flavored. Sunny, the amazing chef, came by to check on us and gifted us a mango ice cream cookie. Such a satisfying end to the weekend.

Our dinner at Lehja was just delightful. Chef Sunny made some superb suggestions for a delicious meal. Of particular note were the Kala Chana Paneer Tikki- creamy paneer in the center with a lovely exterior crunch and sprinkling of pistachio and pomegranate seeds on top, and the Seafood Kerala Curry chocked full of perfectly cooked seafood in a rich, spicy sauce. Yummy! We will definitely be back.

We love Lehja, and this visit did not disappoint. The chicken tikka masala and saag paneer were perfect, as usual. And all the appetizers were delicious.

Staff appeared to be over overwhelmed with the influx of patrons. Long times untold the server goes through there assigned tables and long period u til you get your food and bill

The food was awful. Taste and texture was that off 3 day old microwaved reheated left over food. Lacked luster, creativity, soul. I was extremely disappointed and embarrassed for the guests which I had invited.
