Leunigs Bistro has been a Burlington institution since it opened in 1980. Located on the corner of Church and College Streets on the Marketplace, it invites all passers by to visit Burlington's own little Parisian Cafe. The decor and ambiance will make you think you're in Paris, and the food will make you think you've died and gone to heaven. A member of the Vermont Fresh Network, Leunigs chefs prepare the best of local ingredients with a worldly accent. Live jazz with dinner Tuesday, Wednesday. Lunch served Monday-Saturday, Dinner every night, and Brunch on Sunday. Great wines by the glass or bottle, full liquor service. Best people watching in town. Reservations accepted, but not necessary. Every meal served with the panache of Paris and the value of Vermont, right in the center of town.

The service was incredibly slow. It took 30 minutes for a waiter to take our drink order. Our water glasses we empty and no one offered to refill them. The food however was very good. Too many tables for inexperienced staff. If you aren’t super thirsty or hungry and have plenty of time it’s a good choice.

Incredible service, did not take long for the food to get to the table, food menu was diverse and everything was delicious. The restaurant itself has beautiful ambiance, I can’t wait to go back!

Like the menu and the location. GF options are good though fryer is not GF. Seating can be a bit tight.

We were so disappointed with Leunig’s. My husband and I went for lunch on a Sunday. I ordered a virgin hot toddy from the cocktail menu that was described as including ginger. When it arrived it had whiskey and no ginger. My husband brought the drink to the waiter who insisted 3 times that it was virgin. My husband insisted it was not and a few minutes later the correct drink was brought to me. I ordered a croque Monsieur hot sandwich for lunch and when it arrived it was the wrong sandwich. I told the waiter who at first tried to tell me that it was the kind of sandwich I ordered but he eventually took it away and said he would get the correct sandwich. It arrived very quickly for what is supposed to be a hot sandwich with melted cheese, and in fact it was a cold version of the croque monsieur with unmelted cheese and a lukewarm sauce poured over it. It was inedible. We hunted down the waiter again who was very annoyed and again said that he would order the correct sandwich from the kitchen. I turned down that offer and we then received a check for the full cost of the meal so we requested the sandwich be taken off and it eventually was. We got out of there as fast as we could. We will never go to Leunigs again. What a shame, it used to be so good.

Great dinner, tried some new items (like the Leunigs’s Paella) and loved them. Glad to see that all time favorites (Cavatappi, Steak Frites, Maple Brûlée) remained on Menu after transfer of ownership. Thanks for a wonderful time.

We had the duck, short rib, and salmon dinners. All were well portioned, expertly prepared, and tasted fantastic. The waitstaff was attentive without being intrusive. Can’t wait for our next visit to Burlington so we can return.
