Opened in 2002, this local favorite has become an institution. Light Horse Tavern's Chef John Holm, brings a new exciting vision to the Jersey City culinary scene. The chef's philosophy is to source out seasonal ingredients and to preserve the integrity of the product when cooking.

The seasonal menu always includes a variety of fresh oysters and clams, as well as lighter fare such as the grilled octopus salad, fresh market fish, and heartier favorites such as the prime steaks.

Menu is substantially pared down from what I remember from my last visit there about 4 years ago. I ordered the crispy chicken sandwich. It was done well. My sister had the ribs. They were tender. Oysters were tasty.

Second time going here in the last few months, same experience the last time we went. Would go back for a drink and burger since it’s close and convenient for us but would skip on everything else.

                                                                                Lighthorse has a great atmosphere and decent food. I do think they could kick the food up a notch, however. My pork shop was creatively seasoned and presented, but was surprisingly fatty. The lobster rolls are good, but I’ve had better. The swordfish is usually delicious. It can get very noisy in the main dining room. All in all a very good neighborhoid restaurant.
