Situated in the heart of Kensington, The Light of India restaurant is a classy and elegant Indian restaurant established in 1984. Dishes are derived from the Moghul cuisine of North West India where fish and meat ingredients are, traditionally, cooked in a tandoor oven. Being awarded the Trip Advisor Certificate of Excellence, Open Table Dinners Choice Award as well as the Certificate of Excellence by AAA our culinary philosophy is deceptively simple. We celebrate the very best of Indian food. The Light of India is the perfect place for family dining in London, an intimate dinner with your special somebody, or just a meal with friends or colleagues.

Great dinner experience. Food and service was fantastic. Would definitely eat dinner there again. What I did not enjoy was breakfast the next day. When we walked in for the included breakfast we had the host approach us in front of everyone and tell us we had to pay for breakfast. She kept pointing to 2 menus she was holding and not listening. Tried to explain we were told we had to pay if we wanted the English breakfast but the buffet was included. When we told the host this she did not want to hear it and proceeded to say we had to pay. We finally were able to sit down after a lengthy conversation where everyone was now staring at us. I then watched 3 more parties arrive after us and she did not put them through that process. I’m not sure why she felt the need to embarrass us like she did but it truly tainted our experience after having the best dinner and service the night before.

Very well served by Fahim, very good advice to introduce children to Indian cuisine.

Lovely meal, excellent service. My only criticism would be the price, but I’m guessing that’s partly a consequence of the central London location.

We had the taster menu which was amazing 🤩 Maruf and his team looked after us exceptionally well. More expensive than usual for us but the food and drinks were well worth if to celebrate.

Food which is most important was fabulous. Service was a little too rushed for my liking as the restaurant were clearly keen to have a second service on our table. There was ample time for that there was no need to rush.

This was my third time at Light of India and it was wonderful again.. The decor is lovely and the service was excellent. It’s my favourite restaurant in London. And very easy to get to from Gloucester Road tube station..

Whenever I visit my son when I am in London we always spend our first dinner together at Light of India. After a long flight from Canada it is one of the places I look forward to sharing with him the most. The ambience is warm, welcoming and elegant. The staff and the service are the same. The food is top notch. We have never have a dish we did not like. It is the perfect place to eat great Indian food and catch up with a son I dearly miss. We highly recommend it and hope to be enjoying this lovely restaurant for years to come

The food is ok, service is a bit pushy, think there will be other choices in town that makes more sense to visit.
