Le Yaca began in 1964 in Courchevel, a tiny, country village in the French Alps. Daniele Bourderau & Gerard decided it would be fun to open a small restaurant. When friends learned of their plans, they told the hopeful restaurateurs they were crazy to think people would drive eight kilometers on a winding, icy road for dinner. Daniele and Gerard hesitated for three months and then decided, “yaca le faire,” a contraction of the French phrase “il n’y a qu’a le faire,” which basically means, “let’s do it.” They called the restaurant Le Yaca as a gag, but the name caught on with customers who were amused by the pun and contributed to the restaurant’s lore by inventing “yaca-isms” of their own: yaca y aller (let’s go). Daniele came to the United States and opened Le Yaca in Williamsburg. Daniel Abid bought Le Yaca in 2001. First time back since Duner’s changed hands. We were greeted warmly, seated on the porch, which was warm and comfortable. Noise level not as bad as it usually is in the main dining room. Service was perfect, attentive, friendly. Thrilled to see the duck egg rolls and fried oysters still on the menu; they do not disappoint! Crab cakes were stellar, as always. (Duners and Hamiltons are the only places I will order crab cakes in Cville; grew up picking crab so I have high standards and expect crab cakes without filler.) My husband had the lamb and declared it delicious and perfectly prepared. Almond streusel with cherries a al mode was phenomenal, as was my husband’s raspberry chocolate cake. So happy to know the best parts of the old Duners live on.

Our waiter was wonderful. The ambience, the food, was impeccable. I had shrimp & grits which tasted as authentic as a restaurant i went to in South Carolina. My spouse had filet mignon both potatoes& veggies. Steak was cooked to perfection. Will definitely return!

First time we've been back since the COVID debacle where you had to order from a QR code and gratiouty was added. Not sure who decided that was a good idea, but they were wrong. Wife and I went for Valentine's Day dinner. Looked like it was reservation only, which made for a nice atmosphere without ton of people crowded around the hostess stand. Ambiance was great, as was the food and service. We were pleasantly surprised and really enjoyed all aspects of our meal. Boathouse at Sunday Park redeemed itself last night and we will be back.

Here at Hot Tuna, our food is 5-star, but our dress code is surfer chic. Hot Tuna is a member of the Farm-to-Fork Movement; our menu features what is fresh, in-season and local. Eastern Shore seafood and produce from our local farms are staples, and our menu runs the gamut, from the freshest Ahi tuna to gourmet gouda burgers. Our bartenders are as adventurous as our chefs, providing you with hand-muddled mojitos, homemade sangria and organic margaritas. We hope you enjoy your dining experience with us!

**Thank you for your reservation. We attempt to honor all specific table requests such as a booth or outdoor seating. We are able to honor those requests 90% of the time. However, there are some occasions where a specific request may not be available at the time of your reservation. We do have a 2 1/2 hour time limit on parties of 6 or more.

My wife and I took our son and his wife to Hot Tuna for Valentine's Day dinner. It was great. The ceiling was full of heart-shaped red balloons and from 6-8, Frank Sings Frank (Sinatra) preformed, walking through the restaurant, while singing, and sometimes asking ladies if they wanted to dance. Hot Tuna never disappoints and went out of their way to make it a special evening for everyone. At the end of our meal, my wife and daughter-in-law each received a long-stemmed red rose.

The food was outstanding. Everything was so full of flavors. Avocado tempura, sea bass, out of this world with flavor. Even the case was a surprising taste experience. Another outstanding lunch at a famous Williamsburg ‘go to’ restaurant. Three types of local oysters @ $1 ea. Mixed the menu of the day with the lunch and had some fabulous grouper as well as calamari. We went on Valentine’s Day, when only a 4 course menu was available. There was a choice among two options for each course. We were informed of this when we made our reservation. Five stars does not adequately describe the food. The tuna tartare with seaweed salad, soy oil powder and sriracha ice cream was an amazing first course. The crispy skin black bass, and the scallops and caviar, was exceptional, as well, and the sliced wagyu rib eye , was well finished, fork tender and delicious. All this with prompt, attentive, service.

We chose Haywood’s for our Valentine’s date dinner. Never been before. It was nice atmosphere from the historic building to the piano playing in the front room . A very good selection on the menu , seafood, steaks, etc. Nicely prepared . Thought it was odd only some wines were available per glass as others only bottle . Service was attentive and quick .
