Chef Tim Love’s flagship restaurant, Lonesome Dove Western Bistro first opened in 2000, in Fort Worth’s Historic Stockyards District, and quickly became the city’s premiere dining establishment. We were pushed to order more than we wanted or needed. We ordered the mac & cheese as a side to share, and it turned out to be orzo and cheese, which was awful. My husband had the El, which was exceptional, I had scallops and they were soggy. Our waiter suggested I try their version of a wedge salad, it was a gooey mess. the manager came by and was delightful, I was cold and he actually brought me a blanket. It was a mixed experience. We will probably not go back.

The food was amazing however they put us at a table directly between the kitchen and the bar so my wife and I couldn't hear a word we were saying. A 90 minute dinner where we basically had to sit in silence or shout at each other. As stated though, the food was great and the service was fast, if we went again we would definitely request to not sit near the bar as the bar patrons were very loud and using vulgarity.

Lonesome Dove was excellent, staff was very helpful in selecting food and drinks that paired well (and is within your budget). If you are in Fort Worth, this is a western fine dining experience you must try!

Server was more worried about what she needed than what we wanted. She was more concerned about her presentation than our service. Overall…pretentious and not good value. Won’t be back.

The service was amazing. It was friendly and attentive. The food is expensive but it was a destination for us to try some new things. The spice level on the red snapper was a bit heavy for my taste, but hey, it’s Texas! We tried kangaroo, elk, and rattlesnake. All were fun! My one piece of advice to the restaurant is that there needed to be more that one bathroom for a large place with additional party seating.
