Very good experience especially interacting with student servers. Food was very good but the veal dish and the duck dish, while portion size was perfect, the protein was carved too thick to fully enjoy.

I stayed at the Hotel Thayer (which is awesome due to its convenience factor if visiting West Point) and ate several times at the restaurant (4-5). The food was mostly buffet and rarely was it cooked to order. The service team was young and inexperienced and in desperate need of adult leadership. Overall the food is average at best, service is average at best. But it’s all about location.

The website needs to be clear. Was expecting a sitdown dinner. Get there to find out on game days. It’s a buffet. My 91-year-old father didn’t want a buffet for his birthday.

The room could be so much prettier and more elegant with a little bit of effort… The ambience needs improving to match the historical significance of the property

So... the service is good enough but slow (there is a device on the table to press if you need attention). yountrainininadeqyoung and need more training. But everyone is respectful and kind. The dinner menu promises fine and fancy traditional dining. You can count on a great steak (my husband and someone at the next table said theirs were the best of their lives). Homemade soups are delicious. But a delicious sounding veal ravioli was drowning in an oily sauce and tasted like chopped leftover short ribs... not at all what was promised. Last, I have had much better breakfast buffets for free at Best Western. I will spare you the details, but there wasn't even bread for toast, just something labeled bagels.

We made a reservation on a Friday night not knowing it was only buffet. The $60 price per individual is ridiculous . The loud talking noise and inappropriate loud laughter added to the negative feelings we had for our experience. Finally, the valet could not find our car for 15-20 minutes. Not a good night.

We made reservations several weeks ago for lunch at the restaurant. Instead they put us in the tavern and offered us a buffet. No advance warning. The person in charge was rude and obviously did not care. We walked out.

There was one waitres (male)that was rude on the Holliday day! Poorly planned coverage. It took for a very long time for order to be taken and for food to arrive. Pizza was definetly not freshly made (previously frozen for sure) and tasted like cardboard. DO NOT ORDER!! Limited menu overall. If you're only looking for ambience vibe while dining- sure go, otherwise not the place to spend your money on. Moreover, on the way in/out, dirty plates, and carts with garbage were along the main entry path when accompanied to be seated and on the out. The waiter was responding in rude/military tone to any question asked, nor could even provide basic needs of table spoons for soup consumption. Instructed that desert spoons were the only those available. STAY AWAY!
