   To start with the positives, there aren’t much better ways to spend your Friday evening than sitting down at a packed restaurant. A smaller dining room with close seating and a buzzing energy from all the patrons is a rare find. This close knit atmosphere is one of my favorite parts of dining. It makes it all the better that the restaurant stands just steps from the water. I hate to say it but the food did not live up to the back drop. We ordered a meatball appetizer and, while flavorful, it was served lukewarm and was reminiscent of leftovers after a few short minutes. For the entree, we each ordered a pasta dish. The noodles seemed to be drowned in a combination of sauce, water, and oil. By the time you twirled a bite of pasta onto your fork, there wasn’t much of anything left on the noodle. I understand this sounds “nitpicky” but for a $40 pasta dish at a restaurant that holds a 4.9 star review, it was all just a little disappointing. The service was above average. I love an attentive wait staff but at times tonight we felt bombarded with check ins. This is something you’d expect at a casual dining experience but with Mangiamo’s decades of rave reviews, I was expecting a more professional approach to the service. The wine list is amazing. It had everything I would’ve expected from a fine dining Italian restaurant; from Barolo to Antinori to even a great new world selection. Really top notch list that they should be proud of. I’ve had the opportunity to work in the service industry for over 10 years and I get how difficult running a consistent dining experience is. I’m looking forward to giving Mangiamo another shot, I think I may have just caught them on an off night.

   The food and service was fantastic! The noise level was high, so had to talk loud. But a great place to dine.

   Has the Frutti Di Mare and thought it was a little bland. Nice seafood flavor in the sauce but it was missing something. For dessert I had the butter cake. Not your typical butter cake… a little too much zest in it that didn’t work for me. However the steak and fries and vodka pasta my kids had were destroyed. As well as their cheesecake… so good and the chocolate soufflé was amazing. Service was amazing. Ambience was ok.

   Still the great quality food and service that have made this a Manhattan Beach mainstay for over 2 decades. The diver scallops were perfectly seared, the bolognese just perfect, huge chicken Parm portion to satisfy our hungry 23-year-old. Perhaps best of all, Mangiamo offers a tasteful and relaxing atmosphere, which is becoming too rare among the many "high energy" restaurants that try to be loud to invoke a sense of "the scene". Keep up the good work!

   I wanted to give 5 stars but they fell short in service. They were rushing us and forgot things. Out of the 5 dishes, 3 were really good, and 2 were just ok. They need more attention to detail and patience.

   We have been celebrating New Year’s Eve for many years at Mangiamo’s! The food is always delicious and the staff is the best!! We will be eating there again soon… love the Carbonara… sooooo good!!

   We've eaten at mangiamo several times and the food was not up to standard this time at all The chicken parmigiana was mushy breading- , hard and I didn't eat the meal Service was good but the food was not enjoyable Able this time
