   I was a little late but my friend was there earlier. The host assumed that my friend was me and although this was to celebrate her birthday, the host didn’t tell the waitress, miscommunication but it was ok. Waitress was really sweet and let us chat for a little bit. She also answered our questions and was attentive. We enjoyed our drinks, consommé and lunch. What was annoying was the loud motorcycle racing up and down ala moana boulevard. I know it isn’t anything that the restaurant could do… but I think that noise was really annoying. Otherwise the food and service was wonderful! The popovers are always a hit for me! I had the crab pasta which was delicious and since it was a hot day, the gelato and sorbet at the end was heaven sent! I appreciated the waitress letting us stay for a few to chat and hang out. Too bad she didn’t get her birthday dessert but the sorbet was perfect!. Mariposa is one of my favorite places to treat my friends for a nice meal!

   Their menu is so limited and they ran out of almost all entrees — it wasn’t even half way through the dinner service. The food took unbelievably long. Their kitchen was experiencing some major backlog — we got delivered doubles on multiple occasions.

   Dined here at least 10 times in the past 15 years. Upon arrival was informed that kitchen is overwhelmed and food will be at least 40 minutes which I thought was strange, especially since there open stations. When waitress arrived I asked her if there were any dishes 86’d from the menu (I.e. are you out of anything?). She responded the duo dip (gaucomole chip dip). After a while we were ready to order but it took sometime for her to return to take our order. I ordered an appetizer, a split salad with shrimp and asked about the fish entree. She advised they were out of the fish. (Now understand the current menu has been scaled back more than 50% from what it used to be. There are only 3 entrees offered). So I then ordered the ribeye steak and was told they are out of the steak. That left only 1 entree, the risotto. So in disappointment I ordered the risotto. After a long wait a runner drops a salmon salad on the run and tries to run away. I stop him and tell him we ordered a split shrimp salad not a salmon salad. He takes it away. A waiter comes by and then drops off the ahi tataki appetizer which was good. The manager then graciously comes by and apologizes for what we’re encountering. I ask him about the shrimp salad since 40 minutes have gone by since we ordered it. He said he would check on it. The waitress drops by and gives us 2 cups of corn chowder on the house for the delay and items off the menu. Finally 20 minutes later the split shrimp salad arrives and it was fine. The waitress then comes by and asks whether we would like coffee or dessert. I then asked her, what about the risotto we ordered. She was completely befuddled and it was obvious to me she had never placed the order with the kitchen. It’s one thing to screw up a an item ordered, but to be out of 2/3 off your entrees, long delays and then screw up your order is inexcusable. This was not a packed house by any means. Needless to say I won’t be coming back.

   We had 6pm reservations for 2, we arrived at 6pm and had to wait another 15 minutes to be seated. Upon arrival we were also told that the kitchen was backed up and food service would be at least 30 minutes. When we were seated we were told one of the appetizers wasn’t available. When we were going to order, we were told one of the entrees wasn’t available. We ended up leaving.

   We had the Vietnamese Lemon Beef Salad and it was sooo good! Lots of beef and just enough heat!

   We sat outdoor and had a perfect view of the Friday night fireworks at the end of our fabulous Valentine’s dinner. The sunset also was very nice. We thoroughly enjoyed every moment of our dinning experience.

   ウニのパスタ、ホタテのカルパッチョも噂通りとても美味しかったです。また来たいと思いました。ウエイターさんもとても親切でよく声もかけてくれ、楽しく過ごせました。
