We had been looking forward to our anniversary dinner here and were greatly disappointed. We still enjoyed our anniversary, but we won't be back to MJ's.We had been here several times before and had good experiences and were expecting the same. The disappointment started with our server. We had just been seated and she over promptly, to take our order. She didn't ask if we wanted any drinks or wine. She wanted to sell appetizers and that was all she was concerned with. I gave her an order for soup and salad and my wife ordered a salad and a drink for each of us. She wrote it down and left, and didn't ask about entrees. When she came back, I inquired and she said we could order any way we liked, in bits and pieces."Ok?" So I ate my lukewarm soup ($8)while my wife ate her "wedge" salad that was not a wedge, but a clump of iceberg lettuce with some dressing drizzled on it ($10). I gave her half of mine so she had a decent size salad. It was about this time that my wife had gotten so cold, that she put her jacket on, as did other diners in the upstairs dining area. One lady even had on her Winter cap. Our waitress cleared our plates, asked how things were and I asked if we could order our dinners now. "Sure".The dinner menu here is very small and doesn't offer many things my wife likes, but she decided she'd have the beef short ribs. When we told the waitress we'd like the short ribs for my wife, she said "Oh, I am sorry, we just sold the last one" What??!! Restaurant opens at 5 PM, this was at 7 PM and they are out of short ribs? My wife settled for a 12 oz sirloin ($43) and I had fried catfish with gumbo ($28). Her steak was good and cooked well, came with mashed potatoes, but nothing else. My catfish was cool, sitting on a small serving of gumbo, also cool.It was our anniversary, so we ordered desserts-chocolate mousse ($10) and "large piece of apple pie ($10) Small sliver of store bought apple pie. Very disappointing. We'll stick to Ryan's from now on.

Went for anniversary. Got seated completely alone upstairs which was fine, just odd. Had to wait quite a while to get water or be offered drinks. Appetizer (calamari) was excellent. Entrees (salmon and short ribs) were ok, nothing exceptional. Server wasn’t very helpful when I inquired about a couple choices and they had no fresh fish available. So it was all fine but not great like we hoped. But good enough that we will prob give it one more try one day to see if it was just an “off” night.
