Comparing as we recently returned from Italy and ate amazing food for four weeks. Found the food here to be lacking in seasoning. The pork and fennel sausage had little taste and didn’t stand out nor didn’t compliment the pasta. Likewise, the Aperol Spritz was not what we experienced in Italy or at other Italian restaurants here. Will be back though.

The Friday Plat du Jour remains outstanding value-as evidenced by the busy room every Friday. We thought the weekly single choice pasta might become a bit ho hum—but the chefs keep coming up with very tasty, flavourful options every week. The staff are friendly and efficient, the feeling is of eating in a private dining room-and the manicured garden view remains a unique feature on this, or any other. ‘Coast’ in Australia. We’re regulars!

Box on the Water remains unbeatable for value-& that view! The pate, fish & chips-& salad- are our ‘go to’ lunch-easily shareable, served with a smile, & enjoyed in front of a world class view. Our only (slight) regrets-it’s not open-at least once or twice a week-for breakfast-and the menu doesn’t offer a tender steak frites option ( the bavatte’s a bit chewy for us). But it still makes us once a week regulars.
