Santo Domingo de los Tsáchilas Restaurants

Zazu was a wonderful dining experience, my wife and I felt as though we were on a date! The ambiance was elegant, sophisticated and well designed. The menu was interesting and featured an Ecuadorian influence, both historic and modern and our dishes were delicious. The attention received from Zazu's staff was excellent and refined. The wine list ranges from the most sophisticated to local Ecuadorian wines. For all the above, Zazu was very reasonably priced! Zazu is not to be missed when in Quito Carlo Zaskorski, architect.

The food was delicious but very pricey (much more than the under $30 price listed in open table. Two course Dinner for two including three glasses of wine shared between two of us was $150. The servers were very nice but not very professional - they did not refill water for a long time; offered us more bread but didn’t bring it; took away our silverware after first course and did not bring it back til we went and tracked them down; the music suddenly got very very loud and we had to ask them to turn it down. They did do a number of table side services such as grind a salsa in front of us and cook fish in front of us which was very interesting.

I am a solo traveler. I booked my reservation and was seated on time. A waitperson came to the table and explained it all then disappeared. I was then mostly ignored until a manager/supervisor noticed that I was sitting waiting with an empty table. I explained that I had been waiting for the check for 20 minutes. They comped me a cup of coffee then I left. I did not leave a gratuity.

No comment it was below expectations but that is my experience since I’m a fan that has tasted what PF’s menu is like elsewhere.

We had a party of 14 people but we had made three separate reservations. La Gloria staff eagerly accomodated us by combining three tables so that our entire party could sit together. Food was delicious and staff was friendly and attentive throughout the evening. In summary, La Gloria really delivered for us and made the evening special. I appreciate their dedication and talents.
