- SSusanBaton Rouge / Lafayette •7 reviews5.0Dined 1 day agoHouma’s house is magical at Christmas time! We had a fantastic dinner and enjoyed drinks at the Turtle bar. I had the redfish, and it was some of the best fish I have had in years. It was cooked beautifully and the crabmeat on top was sweet and plentiful. We also had short ribs that were tender and delicious. We all enjoyed the crab cake appetizer as well. Crème Brûlée for dessert was just as good as our meal. Service was on point even when super busy. We can’t wait to go back.More infoThe Carriage HousePrice: Expensive• Creole• Baton Rouge•4.7

- EEllieBaton Rouge / Lafayette •2 reviews5.0Dined 3 days agoHonestly, the service could not have been better. We had three people taking care of us and they were spectacular. I couldn’t remember the name is the wine I ordered but the drink waiter remembered immediately without even looking. They were great. The only complaint I have was the Fish Katie. My girlfriend ordered it and said it didn’t taste right so I tried it. The only way I can describe it is that it tasted “dirty”. Maybe the fish wasn’t fresh, or was just a bad piece, I don’t know, but it tasted awful. She was already full by that point of the dinner so she didn’t want to say anything, but I figured I would mention it now. Other than that, the dinner was perfect and we will certainly be back!More infoRuffino'sPrice: Very Expensive• Steak• Baton Rouge•4.8

It is so beautifully decorated for Christmas. I treat my kids to dinner here for Christmas every year. You know you're going to find great Cajun food in a town that is known as the Jambalaya Capital of the World. In fact, the city has hosted the Jambalaya Festival since 1967. For the uninitiated, Jambalaya is a Cajun Creole dish made with pork, chicken, sausage or ham cooked with onions, garlic, seasonings, and rice. Some other Cajun and Creole dishes, like blackened redfish sandwiches served with coleslaw and tomato jam, crab au gratin, boudin and green onion sausage, are also easy to find in Gonzales. Fresh shrimp, crab and oysters, fried catfish and boiled crawfish will satisfy your craving for fresh seafood and fish. Don't forget to try the roast beef po'boys or red beans and rice.
