It was very crowded so the noise level was high making it hard to carry on a conversation. St. Albans is a historic, upscale community just west of St. Louis, known for its thriving country club, golf courses, and idyllic wedding venues. The affluent environment inspires the food in this area, as many dining establishments focus on fine dining and elegant atmospheres with outdoor patios. And, this may be unexpected, but Missouri is quite proud of its wine country. Several wineries in the area have excellent restaurants. For the more laid back at heart, Memphis barbecue at one of the many smokehouses is a must. A few grills and cafes provide other casual options serving up American standbys, including burgers and sandwiches.
