Located in Historic Downtown Tarboro, one of the oldest towns in North Carolina, On the Square Restaurant offers seasonal, sustainable ingredients that are celebrated throughout the ever-changing menu. Open for dinner on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings and for lunch on Monday through Friday, we are as proud of our food and comfortable atmosphere as we are of our eclectic and value-driven wine list.

                                                          Great experience, problem is we don’t want to eat anywhere else these days, because no where else stands up to these people. Also, Mary Gail likes Steven’s shorts and flip flops, but that is another matter entirely.

                                                          I love this place. Sad that it had no Valentine’s menu. Nothing very special. Food is always good but the experience has lost its luster. We had dessert but they were out of coffee. Grrrr. Interestingly enough it’s not the first time we have been told that coffee was out. Made me wonder if they just told customers that because at 8:30 at night that they didn’t want to make another pot. I just feel like the restaurant needs the spark it once had.

                                                          Today was my wife’s birthday and On the Square was the perfect place to celebrate with our friends. The food was excellent and Paige, our server, was excellent. She gave us excellent suggestions and was on point! Thanks for a wonderful evening.

                                                          Kate, our server, was awesome! She managed our table of 6 and another table of 6 and other orders with grace and efficiency. The bar was pretty "backed up" so took drinks along time to come out. But all orders were correct, food was delicious, and we enjoyed our time
